Not to mention 200 units seems very 'stay up all night and order fast'
More like "how much can I mark up this car?"

I was more referring to ///M GmbH saying that to Toyota since they are almost an entirely separate entity from BMW and have no obligation to give them motors. The 200 motors shuts up Toyota about having a S58 Supra

If there really will be only 200 GRMN MKV's ever made worldwide and just within Japan, that's going to be special but VERY disappointing. If that's only 200 of them per model year until the A90 stops production all in Japan then that's still disappointing. If all the GRMN's potential world markets including but not limited to Japan would get 200 examples per model year each then that's somewhat better but it will still make these cars highly marked up unobtanium for pretty much everyone (except a few with bottomless pockets of course).

I see the net positive as being that the parts will be in Toyota's system to help determined DIYers to piece together their own factory-like S58 swap.

And beyond that, since this GRMN is apparently going to be ridiculously limited production and hard to even have a chance to buy *with* a blank check.... I still want to see what I've been waiting for this entire time along with most of the people interested in one of these cars: a factory manual transmission option on the 2.0L *and* 3.0L.

A factory GRMN is assured to be an extremely exclusive experience from the sound of this, so I'd still prefer the more down to Earth fun experience that should be more than marketable in this car by now: three pedals and a lever with a pattern on the shifter. It would have to be cheaper than $112,000 + "market adjustment" too.

I like what they’re saying, and for sure a manual 2.0L is easy for them to put into production. Seems the S58 powered GRMN would have an easy time getting the new M3’s manual gearbox as well.... but Tada has always wanted that to be a DCT apparently. Still, the possibility exists for all its high markup and low volume attainability.

The real winner will be a volume production B58D 3.0 Supra with a six speed manual AND a 6-speed manual available on the 2.0 as well.

At the very least a regular Supra 3.0 available with a manual since that is the combination most people want. However I hope more than one model trim will get a manual option. The car will only be produced for a few years and it’s the last generation that can have manuals so I hope Toyota makes these variants attainable for people.

If they give 2.0 a manual thats what I may go for, I hope manual will weight less than 8ZF too.

It probably will weigh less. But... you’ll also need to add after purchase: an aftermarket or compatible BMW LSD rear end, Supra 3.0L front brakes and the 3.0L suspension or some aftermarket suspension.

At least in the U.S. the Supra 2.0L has no large front brake caliper or LSD options (open diff only here).

I would go 2.0 to get a manual for sure. Can always add the other stuff later...

Jeff, your IS350 6MT and your meticulous work that went into it are an inspiration. Your extremely clean dream build inspired and furthered my determination to convert my SC300 5-speed’s with a similarly thorough stock and CA emissions compliant USDM Supra TT driveline, suspension and brakes, save using an R154 transmission and 3.76 TT Auto Torsen T-1 diff.

I’ve said that the volume 3.0 Supra is the one that most people want in a manual but if the 2.0 is it then I totally agree with you. If it comes down to it all the other additionally desirable hardware can be ordered and added to it after purchase.

May 2023 debut

Supra has recovered for the first time in 17 years in May 2019. Of course, it is expected that the GRMN model will be set up, but in the spring of 2020, the 3L, straight 6 turbo car drastically improved its power, and on the contrary, its existence was questioned.

However, Supra GRMN will definitely appear. Of course the base is the straight 6, 3L turbo model.

The maximum output is 520ps and the maximum torque is also increased to about 62kg. The transmission is planned to be combined with the 7-speed DCT used by BMW's current M2 and M4.

Supra GRMN, which is expected to appear at a price of 12 million yen in 2023. There is a story that it is limited to 200 units, so if you want it, let's save money from now on.

Can the BMW DCT be mated to a B58? If not, that confirms the S58 too.

I hope they change that front fascia though.

The 200 units will be for Japan. If we get it, it'll most likely be a higher run.

520 PS is 512 HP.

I see 2 piece rotors, at least 6 piston front calipers mounted lower for lower center of gravity, carbon fiber vents that APPEAR functional, carbon fiber roof, splitter, sideskirts and rear spats, as well as a functional wing.

The S58 doesn't have a DCT either. But with that being said, anything can be mated to anything.
