Has anybody tried to reject their Supra because of the JBL system?

Hi Folks,

I picked up my new Supra last week and am so disappointed in the JBL system. For me at least, being able to listen to your favorite music is a huge part of the driving experience.

I know i can maybe sort it out by doing Tadda's mod to the sub enclosure, by why should i have to?

I've never rejected a car before. So any advice would be greatly appreciated, e.g. i'm unlikely to be able to reject vehicle just because the stereo is rubbish.

Thanks

Pav

Did you code off the piped in engine noise? If not , this is your problem.

honestly after using Tadda's EQ settings alone its sounds really decent, I know it's not the greatest but it ain't bad either

Just simply remove the rear panel and re-evaluate the sound quality...Now this won't completely eliminate all the vibrations but you should hear a noticeable improvement in reducing bass vibrations and improving sound quality which should give you some confidence that the sound quality can be greatly improved upon and is easily fixed...

Also make sure your audio settings are set up properly...

I've found that selecting the "Surround" enhancement feature added to the phase distortion which resulted in reduced sound clarity...This is one of the first things I turned off and the system clarity was noticeably improved...Also note that "Speed Volume" is turned all the way down as this will change the EQ curve as speed increases resulting in an undesirable response at hwy speeds...

Here are my current audio settings as an example:
  • ASD / Active Sound Design (off - using Bimmercode)
  • Surround (off)
  • Speed Volume (0)
  • Balance: (0)
  • Fade: (front +2)
  • Broad Bass (+2)
  • Broad Treble (-2)
  • Equalizer (shown below)

ASD is only active in sport mode...Disabling it will only improve sound quality while in sport mode but does not fix the sound quality issues with respect to bass vibrations and distortions during idle and when normal driving mode is selected....

Another thing to note is, which audio source are you using? BT / Satellite / HDD makes a whole lot of difference...

good point

Most of my music I listen to is through a USB thumb drive...BT quality is horrible and Satellite is spectrally limited ...

Some of the YouTube reviews claim the 2021 gets an updated stereo. True? Confused reviewer? He claimed the issues were gone...

This sounds better, especially after you use the system more often. ,, I don't know why but, Harman Kardon sound has what seemed like a break in period.
I've experienced it before with my e92 M3 and my E90 335i.

I've decided trying to reject the car isn't worth the stress. it's going into Toyota on Monday to see if they can do something about it. if that doesn't work I'll get my audio guy to do Tadda's mod.
