U have to send the dme to them?
Yea or you can show up in person with your car (if that’s offered). I don’t think there’s any other way for them to unlock it yet. At least from what I know.

Yes, you have to ship it. We spoke via email. But unless you're local or fly me out, you have to ship it. Same/ Next day turnaround. So you wont be without your ride long.

^ I think that's the cheapest unlock service I've seen so far! (thankfully mine was unlocked but 100 wouldn't be bad).
What u think about mhd and ecutek?

i'm going tomorrow to a Dynojet, so I'll be able to see the difference between the two a bit better. Don't like trying to compare the power on a Dyno Dynamics to a Dynojet.

Results will be shared. MHD got me to 440/490 on a dynojet, so we'll see what it shows tomorrow morning with the Ecutek.

The Ecutek pulls much harder, and isn't as peaky with the torque. There's no "slam your head into the back of the seat as soon as you touch the gas," rather a much smoother ramp up to more power.

Up until now MHD has been fine. Recently they introduced a new version. This has been the nightmare of all nightmares. I have been trying for days to complete the upgrade. I have tried a dozen times to follow their instructions to delete the previous version, delete the cache, etc. and all I ever get is Activate New License which means, essentially, start from scratch and pay all over again. If I'm, wrong I hope someone will steer me straight.

The new MHD migration is very sensitive on how you log in - you need to use the same method (and account obviously) on your previous device and the new device. Then once you in the new App after logging into the same account the license is linked to - you need to be connected to the vehicle in order to retrieve the license. I migrated a N55 license last week to iOS so I understand the battle.

That is exactly what my problem was. Somehow MHD had my account linked to Facebook so when I logged on that way my licenses appeared. The issue I'm having now is that my tune files appear on my original Fire tablet but not on my iphone. The iphone is much smoother and more responsive than the Fire and it's always with me so I'd rather use it but until I can figure out how to transfer those files I'll just have to make do.

Feel free to ask any questions. I can answer anything you need or want to know. And feel free to reach out for a custom tune. MHD supports ALL models via OBD2, including the Locked ECU. We are THE only ones right now with this support for the locked ECU. No bench flash needed
Hello Justin

I recently had my ECU unlocked so I can tune with MHD but unfortunately, my the flashing process kept failing to write past the 2% mark and out of panic, I restored the ECU with the backed up stock file resulting in locking my ECU.

Keep in mind I adhered to the following:
  • connect vehicle to a battery charger.
  • set it in diagnostics mode.
  • turn off lights, radio etc that is not required.
Long story short, I've getting the tuning shop that unlocked my ECU to do a complete rom restore and unlocked again and am planning to flash with MHD again but am a tad nervous of the same thing happening again. Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

For your additional information, MHD hadn't come across my particular rom file as the vehicle is a Japan model but MHD did an app update for the inclusion of my rom version for the android MHD app (3.26a7.apk).

PS: I got the tuning shop to do a full restore with my extracted rom files previously because the vehicle kept popping up random chassis restriction errors. Basically hadn't been the same but I guess that's part of the process.

looks like you have a newer 2021 rom ID. Whats the ECU manufacturer date on the ECU label? Usually if the flash fails its due to the device not being in airplane mode or low battery. But its hard to say. Are you using the MHD wifi adapter for flashing or something else?

The ECU was a Nov 2019 production and I'm using the MHD wifi adaptor (the black one).

My tuner has informed me that he's restored the ECU and is having difficulties patching it for MHD the second time round due to a checksum error.

MHD has claimed that I have modified the stock file when all i did was restore the ecu to stock with the back up file I made in the app. I've extracted the MHD root folder and logs for them to vet through. Now it's the waiting game.

:bat: not sure if I need to obtain a new ECU and if that's even possible. ? I just stumbled on The Houston Shop that offered the ECU firmware rollback and unlock but I think it's a tad too late and besides I'm based overseas so I'm kinda screwed. ? On the brightside mechanically the car has 750miles while all this is happening.
