Hey guy’s, for Trackdays, what psi do you run with the oem Pilot SS. I know the car recommend 38 but isn’t it a bit on the high side? :hmm:

I kind recommend this different by level of driving experience.... if you are first time, in DE1, with instructor, I'd recommend use 38 psi as on the door panel. but if you are more experienced, lower like 34 psi to begin with to monitor to see if end of your session reaches 38 ~ 40 psi. As for me, I start out with 31 psi. In WGI, /w 80+ F weather, car reached 41 psi / over 170F at the end of session.

So there's no straight answer since it's depends on many variables such as track temperature, track configuration, driver level, & ETC. but the goal is to reach around 38~40 psi at the end of the session in general. Again, this is very general statement and it may differ on many other variables.

Had to start as low as 28 psi to get 40 psi at the end of the stint. Not that impressed with the Michelin PSS, they do stick but became greasy a lot faster than I would have thought.

That said though, it was on a short track with a lot of tight curves and hairpins that doesn’t give the tires a break at all.

The OEM tire, MPSS, when you run the tire like that, it also gums up to the point that it feels like it has flat spots. on the way home car vibrates so much that it feels like something is broken. And it didn't go away for long time... I finally wised up and ran along grooved line along the road (low speed) to get most of it off.

BTW, when do you shift? at 7K red line? at 6K? just curious.

Felt that vibration on my way back home, but it disappeared on the highway after 20 min. I ran in sport auto, it shifts around 6500 rpm, the box’s doing real good IMO, the downshifts are right on and it will keep the gear in along sweeper. I really like when it does a short shift when it figures that the wheels are beginning to spin.

I found the brakes were good, but not exceptional. If I was to do a lot of time attack I would definitely upgrade the brakes.

That said I ran 50.66 sec and a 2018 Z06 on Toyo R888R ran 51.31. Like I said short track wit a lot of tight curves, still a good feeling spanking that Vette’s ass

Oh wow! Congrats in smoking the Vette :headbang::bow:

Do you guys think the PS4S would do better than the PSS though?

Sure it will do better, PSS isn’t that great of a track tire IMO. Never had PS4 but all the reviews are great. They are the next tire I will buy when the PSS are done.

PS4S are better on track than the SS for sure. A little bit better everywhere and was able to lay down a somewhat decent lap time on worn tires at Buttonwillow. This was in my GT-R though not the Supra.

PS4 are better but not a tire I would buy for track use. I ran them in my old 718 GTS. These Michelin tires are good summer daily driver tires, but good rain performance.
