I forgot to post this here in this thread...

I had the door panels off a few months ago working on the speakers and while they were off I applied a 1/4" adhesive backed foam pad under the door lock plunger rod area (shown below)...The helped to stabilize the door lock plunger rod and fixed the rattle issue...

Donā€™t think Iā€™ll be removing panels, though.

Another vibration spot located and eliminated...

I noticed lately that there was a vibration coming from the back of the center display even with no music playing ...While it's not as loud or obvious while driving with the music turned off, when play music at ~ 40% volume, the top grill plate of the center speaker cover will vibrate and rattle...The vibration from the grill cover would also travel to the display itself and cause this to vibrate as well...

I simply removed the plastic cover and noticed the speaker metal grill cover tabs (8 of them) were not securely pressed against the plastic of the main cover itself...I then pressed them firmly against the plastic cover and this seemed to fix the problem...see pic below...

Also the 2 torx screws holding down the display itself (which are exposed after removing the cover) needed roughly a 1/2 turn to secure them firmly...

Side note: I'm noticing these minor vibrations and rattling occurring more during the extremely hot weather (~110F) we've been having lately here in AZ....Which I suppose should be no surprise because of the large coefficient of expansion of the plastic material some plastic panels with tighter tolerances begin to press and rub against one another...

Wow that part is made by Toyota ;)

Any tips on getting that part off the dash?
It's just held in place with clips...pry up around the edges with a trim tool to remove....

Here is a video that shows how to remove this piece...instruction for cover removal starts @ 30:10

Still not having any luck hunting down the source of this soft tapping sound which seems to occur in the front cabin in the area between the steering wheel, center console, an above the accelerator pedal area ...There is definitely something lightly tapping against a panel ...This only occurs during idle and at a very narrow rpm range (~600 rpm) ....Once I take it out for a short drive and return and park I can no longer replicate the tapping sound again at any low idle range...

I tried removing the plastic top cover under the drivers side footwell above the pedals and that did nothing to eliminate the soft tapping...

Any suggestions?

With the colder temps my cargo cover started to rattle over rougher roads. It was a tinny metal sound so guessed it was something hitting the aluminum bar. I could reproduce the sound just by gently tapping at the center of the cargo cover.

Used some hard felt to make a gasket. No more noise.

This is picture of the cargo cover's center tab thingie contacting the aluminum cross bar from underneath. The arrow points to the 2 layers (folded) of hard felt I placed.

I used some VHB emblem/trim tape to mount the felt onto the rubber piece at the top where it is flat on this center tab thingie. (felt pulled up for demonstration)

This is how the felt is positioned once on the car. No one will notice it is there.

On the hinges I applied aluminum tape to minimize play.

I have a rattle near the passenger side a pillar, the triangle piece just inside of the side mirror thatā€™s touching the window.

randomly starts vibration anywhere from 20-60mph. Holding it down doesnā€™t remove the rattle.

Actually I watched this video with headphones on now, and it actually sounds pretty close to what I am hearing. That may actually be that buzzing sound I am hearing.

I'm afraid to pull anything apart since the car is new and mess around with it lol. Maybe if someone has a video walk through that would be awesome.

Hmm well, that's possibly one issue down lol.

Thanks,
-V
Omg this is the buzzing Iā€™m hearing too!!

whatā€™s the solution?

Anyone have this rattle?
I removed the black interior mirror piece to try and see if it was that rattling. It was not.

It worked great for me...still no plunger rattle...did you apply the 1/4" foam in same location I showed in the image I posted?

I have a feeling my noise isnā€™t coming from the door pin then because I have applied the foam there. I tried striking the pin and I canā€™t reproduce the noise. Maybe itā€™s coming from somewhere else.

do you have a recording of your noise?

Did you look in the footwell to see if the plastic under the dash is loose. I had a problem with mine on the drivers side. I put some felt between the plastic cover and bottom of dash and it got rid of the noise. see the red circled area.
