I disagree with you. I think in time the A90's will go up in value regardless of the BMW stigma associated with it. Any car with tuning potential that can make excessive power easily with little money and a massive after market support for the platform will hold their value, and eventually be sought after. It's the only reason why the MKIV's 2JZ became so sought after. The B58M30 in the A90 is showing better results with less modifications than the old 2JZ did for it's time. It took a single turbo APU+ MKIV to hit 10's as to where the MKV is doing so on a small stock twin scroll turbo.Nope. Unless something crazy happens the BMW stigma is there. And there is nothing special about the launch edition. Number plate un related to vin. You can fake the plate and put it on a car in the same production span and no one would know. The a91 is better. If they are releasing a special edition every year that's better than the last. Maybe the first couple might mean something like #2.
The B58M30 in my opinion will be a better motor than the new A91 model block. Why? Compression ratio. The new A91 has lower compression to run more boost yes, but it also means lag like the old 2JZ is infamous for with larger turbos. 600whp is plenty for street/track and I think most will agree with me that a 1,000hp car with massive lag sucks compared to a 600hp car with no lag and instant torque. As far as the suspension and few other frivolous changes Toyota is making to the A91, I have already upgraded on my A90 with parts that are superior to any OEM factory pieces that will be on the A91.
There is a reason why all the big boy MKIV Supras ran 3.4L stroker kits on their 2JZ motors. For this reason I will keep my A90 B58M30 with it's higher compression. Nothing beats the feeling of low end torque on the streets with no turbo lag.
