Man, you guys were lucky. My dad only had station wagons like this Ford LTD.
Then my mom got a Honda Accord in the mid 80's with a 5-speed manual. That thing felt like a sports car by comparison.
When I was old enough to drive, I learned how to drive a stick in that Accord. That's when...
Forgive my ignorance, but, wouldn't it be in Toyota's favor to issue a TAS, TSB, recall or whatever to replace this plastic pump at a fraction of the cost and labor rather than waiting for it to fail and having to replace the entire engine when it goes at a might higher cost? :dunno:
Ah, thank you so much for the detailed explanation. :headbang:
Ok, so kinda fair to say that if, as long as my weekly "measure engine oil level" still completes the process up to 100%, I'm still safe?
I've had the Verus. It works well...for the street. Not sure about tracking.
I used the existing hole/area and have been running the Triple7 vent for 2 years now. So far no warping, even in the Texas heat. But I don't track mine. YMMV.
Nothing's gonna fit like OEM. Even the $5k Adro or $6k Varis.
The hood's design is extremely complex with curves, especially the areas where it meets the fenders, doors and front bumper. But it's also the least inspiring panel on the Supra since it's so massive and void of any actual vents or...
Run any of the Maxton lips for a while to see if you scrape. If you don't, then go lower or go with carbon fiber. They're pretty affordable. Unless you have the means to replace the carbon fiber ones which are all generally lower.
Most carbon fiber hoods with the exception of Adro and Varis appear to be manufactured to the same specs.
I've encountered 3 from different vendors ranging between $1400 and $2800 that only come with the pre-drilled holes, no hardware, for bolting the OEM latches and hinges to.
I'm sure the...
Great write up!
I tried all of that a couple of years ago. Took it all apart and added both foam tape and Tesa tape to all edges and corners. Also permanently removed the surrounding trim pieces on both ends of the aluminum bar.
I'd say 90% of the creaks and rattles were eliminated...
Seriously.
It's my DD, so between traffic, road conditions, construction zones and idiot drivers, I don't have any reason to go top mount. My "measly" MHD OTS stage 2 93 downpipe map is more than plenty.
I mean, I did mine mostly for looks. I'm running less than half the power of most guys in my area with no hood vents, so yeah, it's overkill.
Mine's usually garaged, especially at night, but I don't park mine outside long enough for critters to "squatter" in my engine bay, but you can also...
I wonder if the guys over at Magna Steyr accounted for our Big Mac, Dr. Pepper and Dunkin Donuts ingesting lifestyle with a hatch full of Costco purchases when they printed those PSI numbers on the door sill?
