Maybe an option wont be available for one, but don't expect the two cars to come out with different transmissions.
If one of the two cars (Z4/Supra) comes with a manual, it will be likely an easy direct swap for the other as well.
I don't believe the Z4 won't have a manual or BMW's DCT. Manual...
Τhe argument is not which engine or manufacturer is the best.
The 90's with the Japanese sports cars at their best was a decade that defined the street racing and tuning culture, from which many legendary cars were born.
The argument is if Toyota made the right choice to put their most iconic...
The reason maybe that the Supra has been placed in this segment, especially after the GR super sports concept reveal, is possibly to leave space for a halo car later on...
This might also affect other manufacturers that are planning to offer competition (NISSAN Z, Mazda RX..)
It will be interesting to see the main Japanese tuners (HKS, Top Secret, TRUST, BLITZ, JUN,..) to offer from ECU / Boost-up options to full 1000hp+ turbo kits.
If Toyota/Gazoo are planning to introduce the Supra in GT3 it will be very interesting alongside the GT-R and NSX.
And because now Toyota/Lexus/Gazoo are running in the Super GT Championship in Japan with the LC in GT500 and the GT86 in GT300, it would be nice to see the Supra in GT500 body with...
I took the car from the latest spy shots and rendered it in the photo. Unfortunately it is small as it is the same platform as the BMW Z4.
You can clearly see this in the recent photos during the snow testing by comparing the size of the driver in the car.
Its not the GT-sized coupe we all hoped...
Was thinking about the same thing.
Front looks aggressive.
Rear looks perfect.
Side looks sleek.
2/3 view looks like the window side profile was cut with a knife and that there is no rear boot, giving a rather bad design... But its because of the body size limitations. After all lets not forget...
Just surfaced!!!!
Concept-level rear diffuser, aggressive front intakes, taillights extending outside the body creating a stunning result, body panels removed revealing a more wide and low silhouette, side skirts revealed, production wheels (prefer the other ones recently shown) and brakes, ...
GRMN version rendering based on latest details...
Production spec bumper

Starting to like it a lot.... Minimal and aggressive wheels.... Just as it should....
The only design drawback of the production car i see is the short back end with the duck tail and rear glass extending up to the end due to the platform size limitations.
Doesn't have the JZA80 smooth rear end...
Japanese magazine rendering of what is believed to be a Gazoo Racing FIA GT3 / Super GT GT300 spec version of the upcoming Supra.
Proportions of the base car, lines and design elements match.
