Have you owned one? I did for 2.5 years and couldn't wait to get out of it! Granted most of the problems were related to the ECU and transmission, and not the engine, but that's my point. Toyota took what should have been a decent platform, gave it a chassis that was already ponderous...
It's likely that by the time you've done that - which unless Toyota does it as part of a mea culpa will void your warranty - you're at least halfway through the depreciation involved in just trading it in on a new one and getting it all back under warranty. Plus there's zero downtime in that...
My thoughts on this are one or more of the following:
1) Toyota had already confirmed problems (emissions-wise) with more powerful version... and didn't want to deal with producing two separate versions for the first year release - which is wise considering what a fustercluck dealer-wise the...
Really my biggest gripe is the cooling improvements mentioned in the technicals... seeing as how I live in a place where the roads are 130F+ 2-3 months out of the year. Although on the other hand, if my car overheats or loses power in an attempt to avoid overheating... I'll take it to the...
Don't get an RC-F then... the Supra's suspension is far better whether considering comfort or cornering. Apples to oranges of course, but still. The difference is going from 2 combined runners (integrated into head and turbo mount) to 6 individual with a "proper" exhaust manifold to separate...
I think most of the power increase comes from lower heat at the turbo and better flow through the individual runners as opposed to the single turbo mount on the B58C. Obviously the pistons play a part, etc. but ultimately it's just that it can handle a bit more boost while remaining as reliable...
The far more viable question (regarding the sentiment of the OP) is what percentage of the time you spend doing WOT pulls... if you only bought an A90 to dyno or drag race then I suppose I understand on some level. However, if that's the case then probably the Supra wasn't the best choice...
I wonder if he ordered his with the matched CF ground effects package... because they just sent out notices that no one is getting those... for the whole model year. "Hopefully available late 2021..." I believe was the prediction.
If you think there's a ton of "growing pains" in the first...
Uh yeah... it sure as hell had better be faster than the Supra... when he finally takes delivery this summer if he's lucky. ;)
Although with the way traffic has become around here... I'm lucky if I can even do the speed limit most of the time - and getting there .5 secs faster doesn't really...
Not to mention they're still trying to get the first pre-orders from last year out the door... I'm thinking it may be April before the C8 production is in full swing... and the ADM on any that don't get picked up by the reservers... are likely to make people faint. Could be wrong though, time...
Well, there's a lot of unknowns there and cars depreciate no matter what. It'll have to be worth less than $14K in four years to equal (dollar-wise at least) the depreciation of my RC-F over the same period. If you bought a Vantage instead you'd easily be losing the full MSRP of a Supra every...
It certainly appears that the manifold is below the head. So if you wanted/needed that, you'd be in for a full swap. Of course, since we've already seen the B58C with nominal bolt-ons and tune doing 500HP+ I'd say that's not really an issue. If you're planning on building a 1K+ monster...
With those subtle differences I'd be quite surprised if anyone driving a MY20 and a MY21 back to back could even tell the differences... maybe if they were racing each other... but not in separate driving sessions. Even in a race there would have to be near equal reaction times for it not to...
Also check that it's firmly seated in the clips... it can look like it is, but a firm push on one of mine still clicked a bit and solved that rattle without extra parts/tweaks.
FTFY - jk but I am salty and skeptical on that front. Plus if they do, I expect the cost will stop most of the complaints.
Wouldn't have been a good choice for a DD, but guessing anyone with a Phantom that's willing to just garage it would see a nice appreciation in a few years... assuming...
I seriously doubt it - well the manual part - 400hp I could see (that's just a tune). But if you're correct, then it's fine... I'll just take the hit and trade up to that! :D
