I live in SoCal. I am near a road called Sunset Drive which is good fun, about 5 min from Live Oak Canyon Road which is also good, 10-15 min from the start of Highway 38 which I follow back down on 330, and around an hour or so from Highway 243 and CA-2 (Angeles Crest Highway).
Was it in the garage? That may have cooled down the vent system. Also, may have cooled down if the A/C was on when you started the car.
If the A/C and auto was off, it would just be outside ambient temp or heated.
If I am not mistaken, the downpipe for other B58 cars fits. I am not certain, but it could be easier to find a good price one longer on the market. VRSF comes to mind, for instance.
I'm sure it was fine. Imagine if they had pushed it and blown the motor, especially without knowing this engine's weakpoints. It would have looked really bad for them.
There is no possible way to fit any spare in the Supra. There is nothing under the trunk floor other than the battery which takes up all the space down there.
