I'm 2/3 of the way there... or will be in a few days (19.7K miles). But I'm on stock tune so not apples to apples.
@AustinGRSupra : what oil are you running and is this when fully warmed up or earlier on in the drive?
Not sure what the underside is or how the cutting went, but here's one factory hood mod that's a bit interesting:
Personally, I really like the look of the Seibon VS-Style hood... I'm not convinced the vents are in the most optimal places, but love the look at least.
At least with the AC...
LOL! Perfect! Although, as someone that remembers when networks were afraid to advertise tampons and condoms (but not cigarettes ironically)... a small part of me still wishes there was a bit of discretion/shame left.
Ah who am I kidding, it's more interesting this way. ;)
As it should! However, based on past experiences and many of the posts in the oil consumption thread, I think I have a bit of a "crisis of faith" as far as iDrive is concerned.
Obviously, regardless of whether there is an objective benefit to popping the hood or not... it's certainly not going to hurt anything to let it vent a little bit more after driving. As long as you make sure it's completely latched prior to driving again that is - if not, heat damage will be...
Although I'm certainly not an expert in either thermodynamics or engine design (and it's been ages since I stayed at a Holiday Inn) I hesitate to idle cool too much more than a minute or so. In idle, although the turbo isn't spinning (or barely), there is still heat being generated by the...
I admire your resolve and restraint!
I daily my MKV and love it, but if an R8 was in the garage.... :dunno:
I'd love to have an exotic as a "speculation investment" and I've thought about it before... but I just love driving too much! I always pick the most fun thing I have available - so...
Got some bugs and oil on it again at high speeds... so will be washing it tomorrow. However, I did have to slow down a little to grab a picture of something I found more than a little humorous. It seems so obvious, and yet never occurred to me even as a joke - let alone a legitimate business...
If you can stand to wait until next year - I would. If you are dying to get one as soon as possible, then that's an OK deal in the current market. Hopefully the shortages will have been resolved in the next 6 months and supply will return to relative normalcy. That plus the release of the...
I have a long-ish residential leg to my commute where I'm never above 2K RPM (much at 1K & 25mph) - still with a frustrating freeway hill climb leading up to that point and 114F+ temperatures... the fans have run for about 30 seconds after I let it idle for 30 or so entering the garage. Never...
Plus, although hard to see in that perspective, the rendered wing seems to sit back quite a bit farther past the end of the duckbill - and lower as well. I'm fairly sure it's never been produced however, to answer @Zupra1776 original post (but I would similarly be very interested in it if it were).
LOL... well, thank God that's not the only way for me or the DME to make sure there's enough oil to prevent catastrophic failures! Now where was that dipstick... oh, wait...
You'd think that might be something they'd want to source a reliable sensor for (or at least better software to...
I like how committed the executives are to making sure the customer doesn't get anything they really want or would enjoy... very realistic. Oh what a feeling... ;)
They should have added Tada-san blowing smoke up buyer's asses about how the vents can easily be made functional or how every...
I try to keep my iPhone in a foil pouch... but the music choice I can definitely get behind! Was just listening to that album yesterday as a matter of fact.
Have to agree with @freeform911 on the brakes... mine's never been tracked and I've still got about 60% remaining at 18K miles. So either hard tracked or replaced for noise/other reasons. If there's a front strut brace installed - it's already got 50% of the suspension difference between MY20...
Sounds like a great excuse to justify a CF hood. ;) I had that happen on my Civic many years ago... and while I liked my new hood's looks - having zero visibility at 80mph preceded by a bang and shattered windshield is an experience I wouldn't wish on my enemies. I'm glad all he lost was the...
Wow... I wish mine had come with a tune, DP, CF custom wheel, etc.
Usually other people's mods just irritate me (on a used car)... but those are all tasteful and/or beneficial ones.
Honestly, I guess I understand why he's upset... but not really. You know you bought a Chevrolet... even if it was the most expensive one. You must have had something significant done - since it took two weeks. If that had anything to do with the suspension, drivetrain, steering, tires...
~200 miles is the longest single stretch I've gone so far - but I do more than that (in 25 mile increments) every week and have a bad back. Haven't even gotten more than slightly sore in the past year and a half.
I'm not sure how I'd fare on a truly long drive (>8 hrs), but I know I can do at...
