That can definitely help depending on whether or not the DSP is configurable and/or allows the same EQ filtering at the head unit. On the other hand, there's not a lot you can push on the low end from a 4" mid. That's really the Achilles heel of this system IMO and likely helped significantly...
That is truly tragic! I considered the 4C briefly... glad I waited. The active sound deactivation was worth the $35 for BimmerCode by itself IMO (though auto shutoff memory is a close second). It added nothing to the driving experience, and the audio is appreciably better without it.
I'm on the fence... $1500 isn't peanuts when it doesn't improve performance - but looking forward to your impressions. I'm obviously adapting to it pretty well, as the stock setup sounded better than it did originally when driving today. Likely I've just lost much of my bias coming from the ML...
Not sure if true, but I was told it has to be re-registered to clear - which means dealer, I think. Definitely didn't see anything in BimmerCode for it. :dunno:
Seems like it would have to be more than that since I also had the replace battery warning but I just had them recharge and re-register... and I haven't had any issues in 2K miles over 7 weeks from that time. Are you driving for very short distances a lot? I use mine for my commute so it's...
I'm not sure I'd feel entirely confident in any of them... at least not compared to a Camry, IS350, etc. Then again, that's what my wife's RX350 is for! The others are for at most 50-100 mile days IMO. I'm sure any of them would be largely reliable during their warranty periods... but if...
So they believe it's the woofer assembly itself? I'll be amazed if replacing them nets anything, but let us know. I'll try that if it actually does something.
I'm reasonably sure that between the cost of the machine, the installation requirements, sealing and tiling your garage, etc.... it would probably be quite a bit cheaper to just purchase a second identical supra to remain "pristine" (or just fully repaint yours in 4-5 years). o_O
If you're doing it yourself and not using harsh abrasive cleansers... then it's quite the opposite. A gentle soap and water wash wouldn't hurt if you did it every day IMO. It's the stuff that gets on the car that will hurt it... bird poop, bugs, tar, oils from the road, etc.
If you're not...
@Kgsweb He is in normal mode... but yes, it does get worse in sport mode until you code out the active sound "enhancement".
@michaeljay The big problem with the "subs" (really mid-woofers since they're handling almost everything below ~600Hz it seems) is that they're open, so in addition to the...
if it's not a big one, just tapping is likely to knock it loose. Otherwise pushing on the shield a little (after letting it cool) with your hands should clear it.
Me too... well, the water at least - I hate Cheetos. IME it's the general customer disregard and scummy up-sell attempts that bother me with Toyota service vs Lexus/Porsche/Infiniti - even Nissan was better. However, that's a dealership problem... not the brand per se. All the other Toyota...
Happened to me the other day with my wife in the car...
I kept driving and explained what I'd read in this thread - she looked seriously skeptical. o_O
Luckily by the next intersection, right before coming to a complete stop, there was the expected 'tink' of it dropping out, and then silence...
Yikes, that sucks! I'm sure I won't have to deal with that however (we call 10% humidity "swampy" here)... of course, you won't have all your rubber seals and plastic pieces crack and fall apart in 12 months. At least none of the critical components in the engine bay are made of plastic...
That's what frightens me. I have far too many cases already in cars, home projects, and in IT (work) where it seems I'm the one in a thousand that manages to receive the lemon. At least with a car it's fairly easy to get out of it and move on... I had that with my last house.
Every time I...
