I would rather the Toyota/BMW car be the rumored LFA successor. I'm hoping a new Supra will be 100% Toyota and underpin the new LC. BMW's electronics are a nightmare. I had 4 computers fail on my E60 M5. My mechanic told me I should have gotten a MB instead. He said anything above a 3/4 series...
Even if this is true, I don't see why BMW needs Toyota. Like I said earlier in the thread, BMW could just take the an i8, reskin it, drop in one of their V8s or V10s, slap on the M1 nameplate, and call it a day.
^I recall reading something similar too that a while back.
IMO a mid engine super car would be ideal. Lexus has never had anything like this before, and a potential M1 successor for BMW.
i thought Tada san said he was in change of the Toyota flagship sports car?
the Supra was never a light weight car to start with. if it is based on the LC it could lose some weight by shortening the chassis and removing some of the unnecessary luxury stuff. Like what they did in the 90s with...
LC500 - NA V8
LC500h - Hybrid V6
LC-F - Maybe V8 TT previewed by the LS TMG concept?
Past interviews with TopGear Tada san stated it won't be a hybrid. I don't know who to believe at this point.
The 86 if developed 100% by Toyota wouldn't have used the Supra name aways. The 86 is entry level...
Adding to the speculation...
@Noble713 did noticed around the 5:00 mark that Sato-san say "The Supra gives me a very natural feel when you turn the steering."
So does this mean that the Supra will underpin the LC? Or because of the language barrier he got confused.
I believe in one of the interviews Mr. Hunter did say if it did make production than the rear wheels would mostly likely won't be as wide as the concept :(
After seeing the new sets of photos I think it looks pretty big. Larger than the current Z4 for sure. I'm guessing BMW wants a F type or SL competitor?
