So I know FeatureInstaller explicitly says "don't reverse engineer our software" and, welllllllll, I kinda did it anyways. I didn't read the ToC, but apparently in section 2.4 it's a no go :(
Maybe I can find a way to manipulate it so you don't actually need a feature installer code to enable...
Maybe!
Apparently both CarPlay and AndroidAuto use H.264 video streams. I need to look into how CarPlay sends data & actually initiates the stream. Same with AA. I'm guessing we'll need to write a custom application to initiate a handshake with the phone that says "Hey, Android Auto is...
Wow, that's a bit more aggressive than my power goals (am shooting for low/mid 500s). What other mods do you have that let you get there? It feels like I'm at a brick wall where the next couple of upgrades are going to be painfully expensive and I can't really decide what to prioritize (turbo...
I haven't heard of it happening on the Supra yet. Very much looking forward to the writeup!! Even if it's some high level instructions, I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now. Awesome work! The inner reverse engineer in me is all giddy right now ?
TLDR xHP map 2 is awesome. If you haven't done a transmission tune yet, do it.
Flashed the TCU this weekend w/ xHP. Flash took 5 min 30~ seconds w/ MHD's Universal adapter. Make sure y'all put it on a battery tender. I've flashed my ECU and flashed coding plenty of times without putting a tender...
If in the future you're going to do any ECU tuning, MHD Universal WiFi adapter is the go-to option imo. More capabilities than just bimmercode (ecu & trans tuning).
I have both an OBDLink adapter and the MHD adapter. The OBDLink was pretty much a waste of money, since I had to get MHDs anyways...
In short, you'll want to look to xHP for transmission tuning. The MHD Universal adapter should be able to flash the TCU.
It's on my to-do list sometime this or next month.
I've been very happy with my Craftsman set - I got something like this from Home Depot - https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/hand-tools/sockets/2017867
I've had to buy a few other things here and there.
The OEM ones are really well designed, but I really like these.
I don't think I'd ever buy them. They're absolutely gorgeous up close, but the video from 5-10ft back just loses all the detail.
oh boy oh boy, it's my first time posting on this thread!
Today we installed the AeroBon duckbill.
Obligatory "before" pic
and after:
also scrubbed every single inch of this thing with a clay bar. Never leave it under a pine tree :(
edit: I know it looks off centered from the pics - it's not...
"what could go wrong sending my ECU halfway across the world for some company to do sketchy things to?" ?
I used Visconti - so he took care of everything. I'm sure they did something for him.
Totally possible. Femto sent my ECU back locked... So there's that. I put a label on my ECU w/ my vin so I 100% knew it was mine.
Ask them about it - They were very quick to admit they messed up.
Yep, totally normal. I felt like an idiot when I asked Visconti what was up, lol. Didn't happen with my bimmercode adapter! Definitely happened with my MHD.
Here's something to consider; the U.S. service manual says to use 0w20 and 0w30, while the Japanese service manual says you can use 0w20, 0w30, 0w40, 5w20, 5w30, and 5w40.
