General question, have you tried xHP first? It reflashes the TCU and might be a quicker/less expensive than doing a full istep update.
Other components on the car are tied to the vin too. HUNBTEVO and KOMBI is tied to a vin for example.. No idea what happens if it doesn't match the BDCs vin.
