well yes their current line up is full of heavy luxury cars. but i would think maybe Toyota could use the joint platform to maybe introduces a: 1. a Z3/Z4, SLK, TT and etc competitor. 2. a AMG GT/SL, 911, 6 series fighter? SC300 - 3,485 lb SC400 - 3,604 lb NA Supra - 3,329 lb TT Supra - 3,461...

this is debatable, but some view MKI-MKII as a higher trim Celica. the MK1-MKIII were cheaper cars. i dont think the Supra will ever see those kinda of numbers again. right now Toyota can barely sell 20,000 units of the FRS.

i also think the C7 looks like sh*t. however, performances wise its a really good bargain, and IMO that is what Toyota needs to match or surpass.

Toyota is supposedly working on a new V6 turbo for the next IS-F. if true, it would make sense to throw that drivetrain into FT1 as well.
