found it!!
A three-liter inline six-cylinder engine with single twin-scroll turbocharger has been tuned to 320kW (430hp) with a 7-speed sports automatic transmission with paddle shifters and the mechanical limited slip differential driving the rear wheels.
from my understanding is a 7 speed...
while it sucks it is true, here we all knew a really long time , also this is old news at the bmw forums , maybe older news than here. I wish OP can get it ecu tuned without voiding the warranty at least.
The engine from my understanding at least was debated , i mean even the 1.6T was a candidate at some point and even hybrid.
For the power figures i would not be so sure it will be less than the current sz-r supra , the current sz supra makes 197 hp which is about 10 less hp than the 86 and is...
I thought that the gen 1 has d4-s and the transmission(aisin) or diff only from toyota.
Also are they really gonna change so much? But even if the team is primarily subaru engineers , toyota has very high standards for their cars reliability, and while i dont trust all subarus , they are not in...
This thing with the toyota platform confused me aswell, it absolutely made no sense to put a subaru engine with TNGA, i mean if you use TNGA just put the new 3 cylinder that is part of the platform anyway.
My understanding always was it would eventually switch to SGP and use the new generation...
the bmw b48 is already at 302hp as is the b58 380 hp in other models, but this will come later probably for the z4/supra and let's hope not only for the US (it is confirmed for US , but for europe for example maybe it is further into the future). For the bump in power my bet would be 2 liter...
Actually in most countries here in europe the supra is sold with the 3 liter engine only, i think only germany and austria have the option with the 2 liter at the moment at least.
the yaris here in europe is quite different(and popular) than the one that is sold in the US , so i highly doubt they will bring the yaris just to sell a niche model of the range, the corolla is another matter though, and maybe with the hatch you will get an estate version of it with awd and a...
i think this time the team that is developing the car will be different , so maybe it will be mostly subaru engineers. Btw do not rule out a toyota engine , personally i would be content with a downsized turbo toyota or subaru engine with about 240hp.
Well the car will become faster , that is happening for sure with a facelift or some yearly update. Keep in mind though that this car is a bmw , so the engine will stay the same b58 bmw but tuned for more power. This special version you are expecting maybe won't be much different than the grmn...
TNGA is a modular platform as is subaru's SGP platform. So the platform is like a lego set in the bag ready to be assembled. The pieces of SGP are mainly focused on having awd, boxer engines and electrification. TNGA is a bit more flexible as it has more pieces ready to accomondate...
I read today that the 86 will be based on a toyota platform but i cannot see how that can happen since the engine is going to be from subaru. If they use the toyota platform then the new 3 cylinder from yaris would make sense, i personally would welcome that, but this leaves subaru in an awkward...
for me the 2.4 turbo or not is not the ideal engine. I would take the new 1.8 turbo , or the 1.6 turbo with some 220+ hp and the reasons are emmissions and lightness. But i am strongly hoping for a turbo for easy access to more power.
the corolla four door wagon might get a 270hp something engine and 4wd right? Btw this 3 cylinder 250hp something engine for the yaris is a long time in the pipes , remember first time hearing about it around 2015 or so. i wont be shocked if it is closer to 300hp than 200hp.
I am seeing this as bad news in general , even though i dont like the 124. if they indeed kill it , it means one less sporty car is offered so it kind of eliminates some competition form the class, which in my eyes means lesser offerings from other brands.
With this kind of money i could own any car i wished and there are many crazy cars out there , i would personally take a koenigsegg , so i think these cars mainly interest truly a very small circle of people (the crazy rich people and a handfull of engineers) or are kids that can only drive them...
