Not so much the 0W- but rather the 20. The 0W is for winter weather cold starts etc. If you stay above -30 Fahrenheit or so you can use a 5W. Mine gets stored in the winter so I run a 5W-30. In your case if you run it in the winter, I'd use a 0W-30.
No problem at all! I will say, if you're worried about warranty, remove the intake. See how far your car will take you until the next oil fill message. But if you want some added security you could stop by a dealer and get it documented so they know what's up.
Fuel economy is done with your right foot lol! I personally don't worry about it. I bought the car to have fun with, otherwise I'd have bought something else. I think the average MPG I'm getting is around 18 according to the dash. But yeah, a heavier oil will impact fuel economy, that's why the...
True, if you can remove it. If it breaks down on the road and you're getting towed to the dealer, you won't have time to remove it lol.
Not worried one bit. The manual says a 30 weight can be used "if a 20 weight isn't available" lol. It wasn't available ;)
And a 30 weight will sheer to a 20...
An intake could be considered a claim denying mod since it alters the air coming in and so on. Not everyone will, but some. I do use heavier oil because it's what the pukes at EPA want for mileage ratings, rather than engine protection.
That's why you shouldn't listen to people on a forum lol. Me included. Read the manual, make up your mind. It's all in there. People on a forum all have assholes and opinions. Doesn't matter what we say, it matters what BMW says. I'll go by their engineering, not by someone saying how using x...
Well it matters in the way that a certain amount is expected and indicates a healthy proper functioning engine, and below that 1500 mile threshold, it isn't. Someone crying about having to add a quart every 3000 miles, has nothing to cry about. And they might tick that "I have a problem" box...
Yup. I remember going to look at a Civic Type R when they just came out. There was a guy there that walked straight out of Wal-Mart to the dealer in his pajamas asking for an 84 month loan, even though the car had a 20k markup.
That's my point. Of that 33% how many report an issue that don't have one?
How many of that 33% lost a quart of oil under 1500 miles? I bet a lot less.
Exactly. People are so preoccupied with black vs white, left vs right, that they miss the fact that they're all slaves to their credit cards and loans.
