This is a non issue with a new car. The factory warranty would cover it. If you buy a used one in 5 years, then yes, get a warranty if it's outside the powertrain warranty. But if you buy new, or it's still under the factory 5 year, 60k mile warranty, you're covered.

Stop wasting your money. Extended warranties are the biggest cash grabs for dealers. When the factory warranty ends, and you plan on keeping the car and it's still stock, THEN buy an extended warranty. Not before.

You'd pay sales tax either way, either with the car being $1100 more plus tax or tax on the part itself. No difference, at least in Ohio. I'd argue that the install should be free since the car was supposed to come with it. I don’t think they'd argue that.
