So you buy a 50k+ Supra, and then neuter it by putting on 20" (what wheels? My guess is a cheap ass, heavy weight replica) and shit tires...
If you can't do it right, then don't do it. The stock wheels are nice, the stock tires are GREAT, leave them.
My Mk7 GTI has a DCT, or DSG as VW calls it, and it's perfect. You're talking about a single clutch. Dual clutches are excellent in all traffic situations. The technology has reached a stage now where it feels no different than an automatic in regular traffic, but with instant shifts. I'm sure...
Because of the shorter gearing. That's why the Z51 gets sub 3 second to 60 and the base doesn't.
The cheapest base plus Z51 is $63,990 before destination fees.
The base has 5 hp less and 5 ft/lbs of torque less because of the non sport exhaust.
It's all in the gearing. Smaller gear, faster...
$2k for a single midpipe, dual exhaust catback? Bit pricey if you ask me. I understand it's a BMW motor and they like to overprice their shit, but us Toyota/Honda/Subaru/Mazda modders are more down to earth. A catback like this from this material shouldn't be much more than $1k. A little more if...
NOBODY should buy extended warranties. It's the biggest scam. You don't know if you'll keep the car, what's going to happen, and so on. Before your existing warranty runs out, you'll get 5 million reminders in the mail, and over the phone to extend. And, those are usually cheaper.
Think...
To me the Premium is the best value. The Base gets the smaller infotainment screen and if you add that package to the Base, you're almost at the Premium price but without the full leather seats and so on. I wouldn't order it with the driver assists because that's just annoying as hell.
The MK5 won't appreciate like that. It certainly won't double in value. It MIGHT hold it's value at best around 70% for a few years like the Mitsubishi Evo is doing. The MK4 is a rare car and even rarer to find a turbo manual that isn't beaten to death. All the MK5 are coming in the same specs...
A Corsa exhaust would probably be my first mod on either car. The standard wheels on the Supra are HIDEOUS so that's next. I like the LE ones though. After that it's whatever gets my attention that I feel it needs. Front lip, springs, stuff like that. I usually don't mess with the engine warranty.
Lmao, you sound exactly like MK4 people. "The MK5 is not a Supra because it doesn't have a manual, has a BMW drivetrain and blah, blah, blah...."
Guess every model that dares to evolve has them
I agree with the state of mind. I'm 38 and WAS sold on buying a Supra. Just waiting for an opportunity to test drive one since I'm 6'3 and need to fit. Most expensive fast cars I come across are driven well below the speed limit by "elderly" people, mostly men, in Corvettes, Porsches, etc. Such...
Yup exactly. I'm sure all the main motoring magazines and YouTube channels will be making Supra vs C8 comparisons the second they can get the 2 cars together.
Nope. The Z51 package adds 5 horsepower and 5 ft/lbs of torque.
The quicker acceleration comes from shorter gearing in the gearbox helped by an electronic LSD. So you still buy a 490 horsepower midengine supercar for less than 60k.
All depends on what you are paying and if you're willing to wait. With all these ridiculous over MSRP demands being made, my dealer is charging 10k over, it's actually more expensive than a C8. So I'm waiting. I'm going to test drive both and see what's what. I don't need a Launch Edition, so by...
