First time out with the car to get some baseline numbers and start figuring out the 60'. Conditions were not ideal ~2000' DA and a gnarly headwind/crosswind but the track was empty and hooking, so can't complain. Goal was 11.5 or better but mostly concerned with getting data and seat time.

2021 Supra
  • MST V2 intake
  • AMS catted dp
  • JB4
  • E30'ish
  • Titan drag pack - 305/45/17 MT ET S/S
  • full-weight, nothing removed

First two passes were 1st gear launch, 2nd gear afterwards. Lots of takeaways so looking for 11.0's with a few tweaks and ideally better DA next time out. Next up axles and ECUTEK (early, unencrypted 2021  ), at least. I'm experiencing some pretty invasive and extremely annoying throttle closure and don't believe that can be solved with out a tune.

(quality is terrible since it was DM'd to me)

Sorry if this is a dummy question…

Are you running E30 and a different down pipe without a tune?

I also have a ‘21 with a tuneable ECU and would like to go flex fuel + ecutek - just to go to E30-50, nothing more than that. Don’t wanna drag or anything but hell that looks fun! And <4 seconds seems nuts to me, well done :headbang:

Youll hit this easily with a tire. I was running 11.4 on a shitty pass with JB4, meth, downpipe, and radials. Only had time for one pass, I was scared of axles on the new tire. Could have shaved two tenths off.

Correct, no tune yet. And no CEL with a catted dp, FWIW. I've found E30 up to E40 blends work extremely well and the DME trims for it just fine. Mid 30's seems to be the sweet spot; at 40 you're right on the edge of maxing trims and getting a lean code.

This setup on a tire requires minimal skills since it dead-hooks. Definitely go the tune/ff route since you have that option. With the addition of just a tune this setup would (will) be 10.7s at least.

So do you think just the 2nd gear launch is what contributed to higher trap speeds in the last three runs?

Thanks! I had no idea you could just toss in more etoh and the car would compensate. When you say lean, it’s because the factory fuel setup can’t keep up past around E40?

What’s the unit on the X axis of your graph, time? What’s the scale if it’s time?

X is time, it's "JB4 clock ticks." The JB4 uses a 555 timer. It doesn't correlate to wall time exactly.

Don't toss E in without a way to monitor engine performance (JB4, tune, etc). Every engine, DA, temp, etc is slightly different. That's why OTS tunes aren't the best. The engine will adjust trims for E ok, but it's good to keep an eye on it.

Are the throttle closures just shift points?

I appreciate the responses. This stuff is interesting ?

No. While there are throttle closures at shift points, there are several more. They can be smoothed out a little bit, but these actually don't look all that bad. It never fully closes. JB4 will adapt a little bit over time.

@AHP how about that log file :p

Can you feel the closure like if you hit the rev limiter? Or it’s just computer things happening in the background that are unnoticeable unless you check a log file?

You can feel the throttle closures. While it does do a good job to regulate boost, it's also restricting air into the system. The car will 'fall flat' for a quick second. OPs graph for example might be close enough in time to not notice, but I'd expect a little bit of oscillation from the closures.

The throttle blade is physically closing (well, partially) in the throttle body. You might maintain speed, but you won't accelerate as quickly as you'd like.
