Per the bolded Iām going to disagree as a car enthusiast. Iāve owed 5xRX-7ās (three gens including FD), 300z, Speed3, multiple WRX/STI gens, Focus RS, GT350, C7 Z51, Camaro SS1LE, FT86, Golf R, etc, etc.I find it interesting that both cars tend to get no love from a lot of people that loved the previous generation of each car. But a LOT of love from people that aren't really that into cars.
The Supra gets the BMW traitor comments. And the NSX gets the "betraying the lightness/simplicity of the original" comments.
I think both cars are pretty cool in their own way.
Supra is the way better deal / bang for your buck. The NSX is a way better car (as it should be, given the price difference).
BTW, the starting price on the NSX was $160k, not $180k, and Acura has been giving $20-$30k in cash rebates off sticker since 2018 or so (and dealers were taking another $5-$10k off on their end for the most part).
You could have a nicely optioned NSX for $140k. I'm not sure what else checks all the same boxes for that price. The C8 isn't even close in terms of rarity or exotic appeal. And if it were just about bang for your buck, it would be hard to argue against a tunable Supra with a downpipe.
I'm not sure I like the 400Z enough (or at all, actually) to add it to my JDM revival fantasy. And I'm sure as hell not buying a dinosaur GTR (I wish they would redesign it and put the motor where it belongs).
Wouldn't mind seeing and reborn 3000GT and a hybridized, twin turbo, rotary powered RX-9 either. Put the band back together, Japan!
I obviously agree!Per the bolded Iām going to disagree as a car enthusiast. Iāve owed 5xRX-7ās (three gens including FD), 300z, Speed3, multiple WRX/STI gens, Focus RS, GT350, C7 Z51, Camaro SS1LE, FT86, Golf R, etc, etc.
I love my 2021 Supra. Honestly its right up there at the top of the list for me behind the FD RX-7 so far. And Iām a big manual guy too.
Most people who hate on the MK5 Supra simply have not driven for an extended period of time. Its a really solid car. Comfortable when it want to be. And a beast when you want it to be. For the price? I donāt think thereās anything for sale right now for mid to low $50K that can touch it. Iām on the wait list for the C8 Z06 and now Iām wondering if it might make more sense to keep the Supra and sell the Z06 if I can make a nice profit and buy something like an Elise to compliment the Supra.
