you’ll never know until you send it off. We’ll just keep going in circles with these replies. So try it
Agreed - going to do so. I was talking to the CEO of Manhart (tuner/performance part manufacturer) - they said they've had 6/20's locked, but also had later than 6/20 not. Most recently they had a 9/20 (X3M) that they were able to bench unlock. Seems to be relatively random.

There's too much money to be made for them to stop trying, so fingers crossed.

We had a 2020 CPO with 750mi at the dealership and I still went with a new 2021... hoping this gets resolved soon.

Luckily I can wait on the power mods. But if I really needed it, the 2020 doesn't sound so bad rn...
Just dropped my Z4 off to have it looked at today, didn't cost me anything to look. 6/21 ECU build...not getting my hopes up but we'll see soon enough.

The JB4 and the turboback will hold me off in till they figure this out. It’s much faster then stock ??
Curious... did you dyno your car with JB4 and the downpipe? I have wondered what the delta is of a 2021 with piggyback and downpipe over a comparable 2020...

Assuming my Z4 comes back not able to be unlocked I am going to opt for JB4 in the mean time, and I will do before / after dyno tests. will also be installing full exhaust. Happy to post them here since the Z4 B58 forum is full of old dudes that wouldn't dream of making any non OEM changes to their vehicles ?

I cant wait for the locked ECUs to finally be unlockable without shipping because I want to tune and do power mods just as well but it feels like 80% of you guys here act like this is the worst thing in the world and that you are only driving your supra at the drag strip.

Pretty sure the ECU's are always going to require a bench unlock at this point no matter what.
The bigger issue is the guys with 2021 vehicles that can't get them unlocked AT ALL because of the new Bosch security. There's no option for a lot of people other than a piggyback or sit and wait. And it's affecting all new cars across multiple automobile manufacturers.
