Curious if anyone on here have installed one of the Escort radar detector setups in their Supra. I've seen the thread with all the different ways to mount a regular detector, but I'm interested in learning more about whether folk have attempted the more integrated system yet. I'm curious about such things as front/rear laser emitter placement, radar box placement, if anyone has sent out a mirror to Radar-Mirror (https://www.radar-mirror.com/escort_max_ci/) for modification, where did you stick the control panel, and so on. I like the idea of a more integrated, less noticeable, installation.

All I know is that you canā€™t wire tap a radar detector to the car.
I tried this and the mirror is at 15v which turns off the radar detector after a few seconds.
so best to see if the mirror runs at 15v or 12v. If itā€™s 15v, youā€™re good. Iā€™ve never seen these before though.

I think we may be talking about different things. This other thread (https://www.supramkv.com/threads/radar-detector-laser-jammer-installation.2040/) has some folk who have had great success tapping their regular radar detectors off the box on the windshield behind the mirror.

Iā€™m wondering about the custom installed radar detectors from Escort (https://www.escortradar.com/products/max-ci-360) and others. The link I provided in the original post is from a company that will modify your mirror to integrate the detectorā€™s display unit behind the glass.

Thanks! That would be great.

Iā€™m in the early data-gathering stage right now. Curious about where the emitters best belong on the front and rear in particular. I think there is an optimal height range for those things. Pretty sure the radar receiver can be placed behind plastic bumpers. Just in general trying to find folk who have ventured into this realm before with their current gen Supra so I can see what best practice might be and what pitfalls I can avoid.

So Iā€™m here getting my cam installed and the guy said that the setup is doable in the Supra.
however the mirror showing a display may not be in the Supra, he said an E class Mercedes did so it was all good (I donā€™t think we do).

but he said you can ship your rear view mirror.

in terms of DIY. I think your setup has so many cables and components that it would be best for a pro to set it up (geek squad isnā€™t pro)

Totally want to see about getting a good shop here locally to do it, as working on my car is certainly not my area of expertise. I posted in a local thread for San Antonio owners on here, hoping someone has a good shop they can recommend. I'll have to check with the Radar-Mirror folk to make sure, but I'm fairly confident they can integrate the display if I supply the mirror. I'd probably buy a new one from Toyota to send them when the time comes, so I can keep the original one if I ever need to revert.

Thanks for asking your installer about it. Good to hear it's doable.

Sucks to say. But find someone that has worked on a lot of BMWs
