Best cheapest radar for under $250.

Does anyone know a really good radar for cheap? I’m debating on buying the Uniden DFR8 ($219)? Any thought/reviews or recommendations?

Vortex Radar is the go to when it comes information regarding radars and what's the best bang for your buck. I'm sure other people here would recommend that you just save up more money and invest in an R7 or something similar. You can sometimes find R7s on FB marketplace in the $3XX.

I can't comment on the DFR8 but i bought the DFR7 several months ago and its the worst detector I've owned (number 5 I think). Way too many false alerts no matter how the settings are adjusted, I'll never buy a Uniden again (my cheap old Cobra was better/more consistent).

Cheapest by far is don’t speed. Hahaha

My recommendation is don't speed and get a nice detector when you can. I run MAX360's on my hobby cars.. and I still don't speed.. Hell, my useless Supra just sits in the garage most of the time (garage queen).

Not sure how much the radar world has changed in the last few years, but for under $300, you aren't beating the Uniden R3. I see it around $250. I had done my research before buying, was the best range/dollar 5 years ago. Mine has paid for itself multiple times over.

Set it on City mode and forget it. False alarms are rare and non-sensitive, but its never missed a speed trap. Always high sensitivity for Ka band

I would just pay up the extra $30 over the DFR8.

THIS. With consistent awareness my V1 and Waze never fails me. I almost got caught once as the cop pulled in just prior to me arriving and he wasn't marked.

I used to be a Guru in radar/lidar equipment. Best radar my time is V1 msrp $300ish and laser interceptor msrp $800. uniden R3 is the best of the cheap new that goes on sale at times in your budget. I still role both cars with the old V1 with no issue and can be found used around 250. If I had spare change for upgrade it would be Uniden R8 radar with there laser jammer package ”if” ever released.
all high end radar works dam well with range regardless of test as you get enough warning. Only some are able to pick up quick trigger shoots by cops hence I test/sold all escort/uniden and went V1 decades ago.

Uniden r4 at Sam's Club will always be under $300. My personal choice along with Waze
