I spent the day at 3ZERO3 Motorsports and on the dyno here in Denver testing out our new catless downpipe and piggy back install. Also installed the Burger tuning intake. Shoutout to Scott the owner of 3ZERO3 for taking the time to try and squeeze some juice out of the setup. Results...

Burger Tuning intake 8hp loss from stock. As Scott put it, not all mods are good mods....

downpipe and piggyback with map 4 -
30 HP gain and 44lbft of torque gain.

Current status - big dollars out for small gains. Titan advertises 100+ HP for this setup. We believe we are the first to install this at a mile high in altitude, so hopefully we can figure out whatā€™s going on. VERY odd drop in HP at 4200 RPM versus a smooth climb. Love to hear any ideas why this might happen?

Hereā€™s a snapshot of the dyno curve I referenced.

Detonation. Turn the smoothing down to 0 and I bet the curve is very jagged throughout the pull. If so, it's leaning on the adaptive timing to keep it on the bleeding edge.

Shouldn't your shop/tuner look at the logs? Should be easier to figure out what's going on then just guessing.

I donā€™t think they can see whatā€™s happening. I will ask, Iā€™m an old school V8 guy. This is my first run at a ā€œtuneā€.

The easiest way to see if its detonation is to raise the octane and repeat. Race fuel, Torco, Boostane, etc.. At altitude with an aggressive tune that 91 pisswater may not be enough octane to make peak power.

How did you attach the Burger Intake? I got one but there is no bracket to secure it to air box? I see on the B58 for the BMW they have a bracket but mine did not. Did yours have a bracket or instructions? I don't want it bouncing around the engine bay. lol

I ended up returning mine because they don't have a bracket and just flopped around on top of the airbox. Burger told me they are working on a Supra specific bracket... but in my opinion they shouldn't have rushed the product to market until the bracket was done.

Part of the problem is, with these piggybacks, there is no logging of some of the parameters that matter. From the look of the dyno, looks like the trans is requesting a power reduction. there are a few other things it could be. But i'll leave it at that. Many people out here throwing up "tunes" for these ECUs truly have no idea how many different limiters and actions that can activate them.

As for the intake, well, without the cover, you're now sucking in hot air. so its to be expected.

What a joke for how much that thing costs. I'd return that piece if you can and wait for a proper intake with some actual R&D. It looks like cheap Pep Boys/ebay filter, no bracket and adds instant heat soak.

Yes, this was my thought as well. I was pretty annoyed that it was rushed to market so quickly without even a mounting bracket for the Supra.

The intake being open inside of the engine compartment should have been my first clue that this would suck... but, Burger has an awesome reputation and I figured they knew what they were doing.

Unfortunately, there is way too common with aftermarket companies. They might have a good rep on specific products to build a name for themselves but then go cheap on other products branded with their name. $179 for this piece b/c it has a Burger logo... c'mon now. :bs:
