So the concept that Nissan would undercut everyone else with a brand new Z for such a low price and offer way more than the last Z sounds too good to be true.
The upcoming Z35 is literally a reskin 370Z, but with retuned suspenision, updated interior pieces here and there, and a VR30 under the hood. The rumors say $39k for a base model. $45k if you want bigger brakes etc and $50k for all the goodies. So yes, it starts adding up with once you pulling on the goodies like with any car, but imo that's still a better buy than the 4 banger. People are paying upwards towards $50k for those in places like Cail, LMAO.

Ok, so a 4k price increase would be $43k for a base, not $35k.

Edit: disregard, bad source of information

Isn't the Z getting the motor out of the infinite red sport?
If that's the case the red sport isn't overly fast...

I personally don't see the draw to the Z...just dont think it looks that good..and the materials used will definitely be of lesser quality..

Just my opinion...

The RWD model does 0-60 in 4.5. We also have to keep in mind that it does does weight more at 3,882lbs. It's also using an old Jatco 7 speed tranny. The new one is supposely a 9G-Tronic from Mercedes.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone that has sat inside of the proto hasn't complained about the interior. It's probably on the same level as the 370Z. Nothing to rave about, but you get what you pay for.

443hp at the crank? I don't think it will come close to being rated at 440hp let alone at the crank. That would be 500+ hp.
Did you read what I said? lol. I said at crank, not to the wheels. You lose between 15-20% for auto's and 10-15% for manuals to the wheels depending on the day at that particular time. I'd say 398-412hp to the wheels if my math is correct.

MSRP of $39,130. I meant first when the 370z was released in 2009 :)

Per inflation calcuator, $35K in 2009 would be $43,500 in 2021 dollars. Since the Z will likely be either a 2022 or 2023 model it will be hard to tell where inflation will be at. Maybe add another couple thosand.

I'm using the mid $30K's because those are the models most people buy vs a stripper model.

People are getting so hung up on the HP numbers. There are several cars that have more horsepower and torque than the Supra, take the mustang GT for example. They have more HP but It doesn't make those cars faster(again, like the mustang GT). If they do manage to get into the 35K-40K price point with those HP and torque numbers then more power to them. That also probably means that every other component in the car will probably be inferior. Performance and otherwise.

Just wait and drive both and decide based on what you feel in the driver's seat vs what us internet idiots say. You're gonna be stuck with it for a couple of years most likely, so a little more patience will pay off in you being happy with your purchase.

I hope Nissan pulls it off, but the cards are def stacked against them when you look at their financial situation. I'm looking forward to driving one.
Wait, is that a voice of reason I hear (read)? Dang, what a concept!

You are absolutely right...eye of beholder...
When looking for a car to replace my wifes Jaguar XFS we looked at the infinite red sport...we thought that car was built pretty cheaply compared to other brands in the segment...
NO WAY is Nissan building the Z with better quality parts then infinites flagship car...

But that's the great thing about freedom (of sorts) I do not have to drive one...at any price point...
