Not to mention that even if it was "insurance repaired" - it would still definitely be a buyer beware scenario. That said, I don't believe it for a second... no adjuster would bother on that - especially in this market where parts (and employee) shortages are increasing repair costs by the day it seems.

I think someone brought a car off of Copart, did some DIY repairs, title washed it, and now is trying to rip off some poor sucker.

Exactly, whatever the status of the title is if I were buying it I would want to know if it has been in any kind of accident and how bad the damages were.

That's the first thought that came to mind as well. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but once an insurance issues a salvage title they can't reverse it. Like you said, the only way to make it clean again is by title washing it.

I was a pube hair close to being on this list this morning. Lots of flooding here in NJ from the storm that hit overnight. I went out for a drive around 5AM when it was still dark. Almost transformed my car into an amphibious vehicle a few times with those puddles out there.

Supposedly it's a "clean" title... Even if it's true it still does not negate the fact that's was involved in a pretty serious accident.

But seriously even the mkv that throtl is doing as a giveaway car is a clean title and the rear tire was pretty fucked and they had to replace all the rear drivers side suspension components.
Although I feel insurance companies are incredibly subjective.

The seller maybe a scumbag, but he might not be lying. Sometimes cars do make it out of IAAI and Copart when a clean title. It does happen from time to time. With that said, I think this is an appropriate action. The car is no longer in the salvage thread but moved to a buyer beware type of thread so if anyone googles the VIN it will direct them here.
