Got a mishimoto heat exchanger installed and noticed next day after my fitment was way off, took it back to the shop and they tried all sorts of things to get it aligned properly but no success. The car was in a front end collision with the last owner but was fixed back perfectly with no bad gaps as can be seen in the before photo. But the shop says since it was in a front end collision messing with bumpers is always a risk. I’ve been quoted $300 to fix it by a body shop. I paid $250 to get the heat exchanger installed Should I just pay the $300 and get it over with or is there something I’m missing to fix it myself?

Pop the hood n look under the rubber seal on the bumper.. you’ll see a few bolts ( think maybe 8mm)..
Loosen a few up and try pushing the top of the bumper forward..

when I replaced my hood with a carbon hood I needed to do a little bit of adjusting..

Is the hood closed all the way? It looks like the hood is off one of the latches. Drop it from like a foot up.

You got a pic of the side bumper/hood gap?

yes it’s closed all the way i’ve tried dropping it and slamming it and the drivers side (bad hood gap side) just isn’t closed down all the way like passenger side (good fitment side)

You don’t need to remove the bumper, just loosen bolts and align to your desires.

There’s a weather strip (remove) on the top front with (I believe 6 bolts) and two bolts under the weatherstrips on the side (just lift up).

Loosen bolts, adjust, tighten bolts, close hood, check for alignment…repeat until you’re happy. Replace weather strip, and you’re done. Car can stay on the ground.

There are Velcro strips under these (circled in yellow) that you will need to pull on firmly to loosen and push firmly to re-seat. It will sound like a command strip ā€œclickingā€ as you press hard enough.

Spend your $300 elsewhere.

Instead of the hood, the bumper might need to be adjusted.
