ZL1 Addonns Splash Guard Install (Front & Rear):

Package Contents:
(2) ABS Front Guards
(2) ABS Rear Guards
(8) Plastic Push Pins (Fronts)
(6) White Spacers (Rear)
(6) Screws (Rear)

Initial Impression:
When I unpacked everything I felt like I was ripped off. The plastic seemed really thin and flimsy (1.8mm thick) and seemed like it would break on the first rock that hit it. Upon installation, it is solid and actually very beefy. I'm totally satisfied with it. Blends into the curves of the car and hides pretty good so it doesnā€™t look like a rally car.

Front Installation:

  • Turn wheel to allow access to rivets
  • Using a pick apply pressure to the inner plastic rivet and push it all the way though. It will fall out of the back and onto the ground. Do this for all (4) rivets.
  • Pry the remaining (4) plastic anchors out.

Tip:
  • Install the guard behind the fender liner. This will help put support on the entire splash guard edge besides the (4) rivet points and also give it a cleaner/stealthier look.

Tip:

  • I would recommend pushing in the rivets in the middle first and then work your way outwards. Also be sure that the rivet is completely flush to the fender liner before you push the plastic pin in place and lock it in.

Rear Installation:

You can probably install them without taking the rear tires off but it will be very tedious and you will need a right angle screwdriver to complete the installation. Iā€™m too impatient and my hands are too big plus I donā€™t mind pulling the wheel off myself.

  • Remove the (3) stock bolts with an 8mm socket

Tip:

The pilot holes for the screws are larger than they need to be. I felt like the plastic didnā€™t have enough support and had potential to crack at the screw point. I had some spare black flat washers lying around that I was able to use. I still would have liked to have a larger diameter washer to give it some more support. I will probably switch them out the next time I change tires.

Tip:
There are three spacers that get installed behind the guard. The spacer on the very bottom was definitely too tall and didnā€™t allow for a flush stealth fit. It pushed the guard away from the body of the car. I used and angle grinder and ended up shaving off a good amount to get a clean flush look.

Rear Finished:

It blends into the curves pretty nice and feels secure but not as secure at the front guard. Locking the front guard under the fender liner made a huge difference. Unfortunately you canā€™t do that with the rear. Overall, totally satisfied for my first pair of splash guards.

Wow this kit is inconsistent. They gave me black screws with washers and I didn't need to grind anything to have it sit flush.

Great write-up @30MilesOffshore

Had no issues installing mine and didn't need to trim rear standoffs....Mine are still holding up very well 4 months later...This is one of the first mods I did after purchase... Since install I don't get splash ups and have not had any rock chips...Glad I have these installed!

Just installed mine and had no issue with the provided hardware. I really like the look of them on the car. Added my wheel spacers at the same time. Very happy with overall look.

I had the exact same issues as 30miles!! I expected more, was disappointed in the lack of either washers or a larger diameter bolt head for the rear install. Also, having to cut down the spacer was a unexpected PITA. The final product looked amazing, but a simple project was made more difficult because the company ā€œcheaped outā€ in my opinion.
