Can anyone explain how to remove this black plastic cover piece? It covers the + battery terminal extension in the engine bay. It has one tab to lift on the front side but I can’t get the back side off. Trying to install a battery tender connector. TIA!

You mean red cover piece right? I‘ll be doing the same. Glad you posted this. I tried the emergency stuck in your trunk handle (no I didn’t lock myself in the trunk 😂), to see how it releases, now I can’t get the damn thing to snap back on and another sensor is pissed off. I get the trunk open alert 🚨 ‼ every now and then, despite the trunk being fully shut 🤦🏼‍♂️

Looking at the picture I would say you pry the small tab on the left side out and use the tab in the front to lift up.

Hopefully that explanation made sense.

I put a blue spot where a tab is to pry. There is the same on the opposing side.

Crap 💩 You gotta take that thing off too! I thought he was talking about the red piece. @SupraDOc you mind sharing the final hookup pic when you’re done. This is on my “to do” list. Thanks all

The red piece is already off. If someone needs instructions on how to pop that red cover off they have zero business doing anything in that engine bay. Just close the hood.

As far as the black part:

Amen 🙏🏼 I try not to touch anything in the engine. Recently broke the rear hatch emergency door latch (I know, I shouldn’t have touched it….), so ironic this thread came up. Had no idea they’re not just rubber removable like every other battery I‘ve seen. As usual thx brotha!

(Edit: I’ll let my wife do this part. I see the two pics are reversed. Where do you attach the positive and negative ground battery tender contacts? I’m used to seeing the big fat red rubber and black rubber covers. I’m assuming the big one is positive and there’s a ground outside of the picture 😬)

OMG 😱 What a clean job… Looks great!!! I really wanted to use alligator clips 😂 .
Ideally 1 of 5 cars will pull into the 3rd bay of my 3 car garage and clip on overnight. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll do the permanent hookup like you’ve got and just leave it in there. Thanks again!!

(Edit: Is that where AAA would hookup the cables for a jump start?)

Sorry, totally glossed over that you wanted to do the clips. Positive would go on that massive looking bolt under the red cap. Someone else circled the negative post in the picture below…

Dude... Really appreciate it! Prefer to keep our batteries topped off. Everyone claims batteries won't last down here in Florida. The heat, salt in the air, etc. Been using the battery tender every now and then and I swear they last longer. But who knows.... Just in a habit of doing it now and originally bought one for our jet skis.

Hey Bryan - Do you have a closer pic of where you grounded it? Also, where is everyone running the plug to? Was hoping to find a spot where I wouldn't have to open the hood to plug it in.
