Save yourself thousands and have the wheels dismounted and take them to a powder coat shop for a satin black finish.

This exactly what Iā€™m going to do
Priority is the HP now
Till I see this Bpitch at least 500whp as daily driver
Then Iā€™ll get myself black Advan GT

Yeah exactly! It is idiotic to buy the same wheels in another colour when you can just coat them that way.

Time for this forums' first argument about wether or not powder coating forged wheels is safe or not.

Lol, just cause......

Whatever decrease in rigidity, stress cracks, etc... that occurs with heat cycling the wheels during powdering coating isn't this big prevalent issue.... I've had 2 sets of forged wheels that I had powder coated and owned for over 3 years each without a single issue with stress cracks or breaking.

Now, I wasn't beating my car at the track either but even if I had been, there is no guarantee that I would have had an issue either way. If the issue was so prevalent that forged powder coated wheels where bursting on every corner on every other car then I would probably be more hesitant about that kind of stuff.

My anecdotal 2 cents. Though I'm sure there are plenty of studies showing some wheels stress cracking following heat cycling I never had an issue.

Let me tell you if you track your car the brakes will get much hotter then the oven they use to powder coat the rim. I tracked my ISF for three years on these forged Wedsports and this happened on a hot track. Brakes get hot and wheels should be replaced every couple years to be safe. Luckily I had a zip tie.

I don't get it - wouldn't super glue or duck tape work better than a zip tie?
