With today being the first really cold day since I got the Supra this summer...I find myself missing having a remote starter. I had a Compustar remote starter with the Drone Mobile module installed in my 86, and I really liked it...but, I’m much more hesitant to have anyone install an aftermarket remote starter on the Supra, since it’s a more complicated machine. Doesn’t it feel like a miss that the Supra Command app doesn’t allow for remote starting and climate control? Has anyone installed a remote starter on their new Supra yet?
I've thought of it considering living in New England. Did some research and found a car starter that uses the factory key but considering the Supra(BMW) complicated system I don't want to mess up the car. Toyota could've easily installed one considering the MSRP; I mean my 2018 Civic had one. Aside from wanting to make the thing go faster with red interior or a more aggressive steering wheel. I wished the trunk had an electronic liftgate. My GF scratched the trunk trying to open it.
When they first launched 86, it also didn't come with remote start. I did install one through TIS & 86 forums. Lots of wiring/figuring things out. Worth the effort. I'll assume it'd be easier to base it off of an existing BMW wiring with remote start. Can't imagine being too different. It comes optionally with Z4... some coding I'm sure would be required.
