I remember this happening with me, I let one of my friends sit in the car and rev it (bad idea) he reved it high and kept it there for a sec while gear in park and then when he let go it got stuck at around 3500 rpm, was definitely worrying but after we shut the car off it was fine

Oh okay, so it’s not just me. And then it drove fine afterwards? No gear slips or hard shifts?

Happened to me after a spirited drive and then revving in Park

RPM was high due to the fan kicking in.. Felt like limp mode

Waited a bit, car cooled down, fan turned off and all was normal again

A month ago and never happened since

It has happened to me a couple of times now, I just turn it off & move on, both times in park, might try neutral next time :)
Will happen in neutral too

Car apparently hates revving while stopped esp if not cooled down

Also, give it a minute and rpm's will go down no need to shut off

Cooling issues while stopped maybe?

Sounds like rev hang. In previous cars I’ve owned this was the result of a vacuum issue, but in this case it’s more likely to be ecu related. Also being a modern drive by wire, eco engined car probably doesn’t help.
