It's quite shocking actually... I would hope they are using the same driver & dry track at least for those comparisons 🤷‍♂️
Same driver yes, Thomas. And the track conditions are the track conditions. sometimes it is damp. unfortunately, that's just what they have to go with. I'm sure reshooting waiting for a dry day just isn't in the cards sometimes.

are the Supra times right? The A91 is 3 secs faster than the A90 and the A90 only under second faster than the GR86?

Is what he calls that "A90" the 4 banger Supra?

The A90 was a 2020 model, the A91 was 2021
Actually, the A91 is a special edition 2021, but the base or premium 2021 are A90's as well

but back to my question, is there really a 3 sec difference due to the 6 port and strut tower braces?

They are only using a90 and a91 on the list to differentiate 2020 and 2021 rather than saying a90 2 port and a90 6 port. And yes the 2021 does have more power so I assume is a bit faster.

For the list a90=2020 a91=2021

Yes I know that, but they literally tested an A91 2021 Edition lol. (The canadian version, so it doesn't have the rear spoiler)

Here's the vid explaining the time difference

That was in response to Dannyvandelft's posting the image of the Z's wikipedia platform post regarding the "sedan based" comment. How is the Supra any more or less "sedan based" than the Nissan Z?
I see where you're coming from.
People may hate this opinion, but after all it is my opinion, but I think Toyota should have done away with the 4cyl Supra and used that motor in the new GR86. It would have been awesome to get a turbo 86 from the factory, and that boxer motor sucks. Also it seems like a more natural progression to move from the B48 GR86 to the B58 Supra.

The GR86 could have been the more affordable version of the Supra, the 4cyl Supra seems kinda sacrilegious.
OR, just use the G16E-GTS.

Oh wait... they already are? ;)

Canada is also suppose to have the wing. Some don't because of supply issues at the time.

Y'all notice all the head movement and jerkiness going on in the Z while on track in both YouTube comparisons? I was thinking are they doing that on purpose or is car really that bad... I'm surprised the passenger didn't puke :puke:
These snap shots pretty much sum up the review. It reminded me of ripping around in my Uncles Caddy back in highschool.

I think some of Thomas movements may be a little exaggerated... just a pinch. I say this due to his Tesla Plaid review. If you seen that, you saw him look like he was on the edge of braking, and it was the most difficult thing in the world. then James gets in and not a single issue, smooth as can be.. so, I think some may be a little bit theater?

I think it’s cause on their test track Thomas is usually going 9 or 10/10ths.

James is risk averse (he’s not a track rat like Thomas and he talks about it in the A91 vid if I recall- saw that vid awhile ago) and he doesn’t go full out on the track.

Thomas is a bit critical of the A91s back end and he talks about how he has to constantly move the wheel to control the back end (interestingly Randy Pobst made a similar comment in the Hagerty vid) - but still managed to put down a wicked time at their test track with the A91.

I think his run with the 2020 A90 is off. There’s no way there’s a 3 second difference between a 2 port and 6 port.

A lot of that is alignment related. Mine was super squirrely from the factory. A simple alignment fixed a lot of that. She still likes to wiggle coming out of the turn, but it's very predictable and mostly because I like to play with it and mash the throttle too fast and too early. And that's on the stock tire. On sticky track tires she's glued to the track.

I think James drives a little softer than Thomas. He seems a little on the dainty side for getting deep into the pedal.

. Like I stated a while ago, just adding sticky rubber isn't always a 100% solution, if the chassis/suspension can't keep up with the sticky rubber it doesn't help as much as one might think.
I once co-drove a stock Evo VIII on Hoosiers. This happened.
