Pics should be self explanatory, I do this with all my cars and it always turns out great (IMO). The reflectors are completely gone after about 6 medium coats. If you shine a light on them the SLIGHTEST color comes through which I like 🤓.

5 mins between coats, total time 1 hour. take your time with some good tape, very low risk job.

I’ve had my car 3 days so this was my first “mod”, don’t beat me up too bad! I know there are color matched and overlay options out there but DIY just hits different.

This is dope af. I should have done this instead of buying the IND ones.
Thanks, I’m going to do the rear bumper reflectors later this week. Nice work running mid 9’s with your car btw! I can’t wait to start making some power.

It'll be fast one of these days.

Do it in a garage if there is even a slight breeze outside.

Clean the lens and surrounding area with a good no residue glass cleaner before masking

Mask with 3m vinyl pinstriping tape or similar

Spray 1 or 2 very light coats, then spray medium coats until it’s tinted to your liking (I did 6 coats total). I wait about 5-10 minutes between each coat

Shake the hell out of the can and clear the nozzle every time prior to spraying or you will get unwanted texture

VHT says you can wet sand after it cures, but I’ve never found it necessary after doing this half a dozen times. If you are patient with your coats it will lay as smooth as glass

You got balls to not worry about overspray
I wouldn’t say It was a courageous act 😅, but I truly was not worried about that. I masked off a pretty large area, anyways the entire car is ppf wrapped. In the event I did overspray, it would clean off with some elbow grease. From my experience, this particular VHT product doesn’t adhere very well to anything but plastic.

Great work. Another suggestion is to take the reflectors off to paint them. Saves the time to tape off the half the car and worry about overspray….
It is a total pain in the ass to remove these things.

I contemplated it, but decided I’d rather spend a little time taping vs. Getting the heat gun out. Definitely an option though for more cautious painters.

I’d have to cover the entire car … with an old car cover… etc when painting… aerosol overspray blows!

You did right.

The tape is super strong, and its hard to pull out in a small space, and you have to clean all the tape off to get it to lay flat- total major pain in the ass. I've never said "fuckin stupid fucking car" more in my life than when I did that.
