This is literally why I wanted a Supra. Didn't care if it was a BMW. Just knew it was fast, I liked the looks, the way it sounds, and knew the aftermarket is going to be huge.

And not going to knock on anyone who feels the same about the Z.
Every vehicle purchase I've ever made started with appearance, then moved to the driving experience. After that, I looked into warranty. I've never once purchased a vehicle because it was "X" brand. The Supra was always a car I had my eye on ever since I saw the first MKV roll across the Barrett Jackson auction. I knew I had to have it.

Same, ive had Nissan, Toyota, Scion ( i know they are the same lol) Ford, Chevy, Mazda, Honda, Mercedes, I buy whatever i like at the time. Ive never been a "brand whore"....... Except when it comes to motorcycles, maybe because they fit me better then any thing else but i only bought Suzuki's. The GSXR just fit like a glove to me, second close to the Yamaha R6/R1. but ZX's and CBR's just felt so not right..

Like others have said im glad as an enthusiast there are sports cars, and that there is competition. On the flip side, im also looking into a KIA EV6 as the new daily to replace the 19 Mazda 3 we currently have. My father bought one and im in love with it.

This is all i see on the Z forum

Tires, tires, tires... tires... tires tires tires... it wasnt made for straight line... tires.. looks, tires,... looks... tires. I can buy the base model for 40k and put 12-14k into it, itll beat a Supra for the same price... tires... tires and more tires..

I still feel if you put both cars on the same tire, the Supra comes out ahead. I cant wait for track comparisons, and especially cant wait to see the YT videos of the Z getting walked. we all know the B58 makes more then 400 at the crank and I'm betting the Z makes right at 400 at the crank.

Due to the fact that it basically kept up once it got traction and trapped just 1 mph slower than the Supra, I think it might dyno very similarly to the Supra, meaning a bit over 400 HP. That's my guess.

The hype this car has gotten is what’s got me so annoyed with it. Z boys are just so die hard and loyal that it makes them ignorant to the facts.

That and how everybody feels that it’s a direct comparison to the Supra, which got shat on by a bunch of haters and car reviewers.

In that faceoff at Willow Springs the Supra looks like an exotic compared to the other two. The Z is uninspired at best and downright homely at worst. Bring on the ricer body kits!

I don't know why but this made me laugh so hard. For all the Z lurkers. Nothing but love for most of the Z people, it'll be a good car and pretty quick.

The hype was just a bit too much. But we know what that is like here, we thought we were going to get a FT-1.

I was only ever invested in this "dispute" because when the hate for the Supra started to get real, meaning all the people hating on the BMW involvement, it seemed to be a massive fuel for the fire for the Z fans. The "Boy Racer", as you put it, Z fans, kept saying things like, "the new Z is going to smoke the Zupra", it's going to be better in every way", "At least it's going to be 100% Japanese unlike the Zupra", "It's going to be $10,000 cheaper and better"... shit like that. Nice Mercedes Transmission living up to that "100% Nissan/Japanese", but hey, at least it's not 90% German right?

I'm not one to ever be brand biased, I personally think it's ignorant and short sighted. I've personally owned Fords, Nissans, Hyundai's, and now "BMWyota's", but if you want to be brand biased, to each their own. Someone who proclaims to be a "car guy" or "car enthusiast", in my opinion, should be excited for all new cars and excited to see how every new car pushes the industry further. Instead, what we had on the internet was a shit load of hate towards a new car because it was a partnered endeavor between two of the biggest automotive companies in the world, an endeavor that just so happened to help someone like myself, someone who doesn't make a ton of money, actually afford a new "Zupra", even if it wasn't 100% "heritage built or heritage inspired".

Still to this day we can't watch a video from an Automotive Journalist that doesn't call the Supra a "BMW" in some way or another. I get it, it's 100% true, but there's so much since less negativity regarding this car, and for the life of me, I can not understand it. It's an amazing car to be honest, but as "Zupra owners", we've all had to sit here and listen to keyboard warriors talk trash about something we enjoy ever since the inception of this new Z. I guess no one one ever considered that maybe we were buying the car because it looked good, sounded good, and was fun to drive? I guess we should all be buying cars based on brand and or cultural biases.

Rant over LOL!
This. So much this.

I am 100% rooting for the new Z to do well. But on god, the fans on that other forum have brains that were fucked up after some radioactive activity, hence their wack-ass rabid behavior. It was so appalling and horrendously cringeworthy to see people being this emotional about something. Show us where the Toyota touched you and gave you your boo-boos. Like shut your bitch-ass up for Christ's sakes.

Like some of their criticisms don't even make any sense. Some reviewers like Kirk Kreifels and Matt Farah are behaving like 12 year old hood boys doing a diss track at how the Z is Japanese and the GR Supra "isn't" blah blah blah, like shut up already.

What is so insane to me is that these man babies have zero concept of reality as to how the GR Supra came to be and are just coming up with emotional reasons to hate on the GR Supra and love the Z.

Mind you, I honestly don't care what you like and what you don't like, but what's surprising is that if you like something, just do us (and yourself) a favor and in the process of you fanboying about the Z (which is cool, I love the new Z too, I kinda want one, but prefer the GR Supra more), spare us from embarrassing yourselves by spreading misinformation about the GR Supra be it about reliability, or Toyota's supposed "lack of involvement" (which is vehemently false) for the car, or Nissan being the primary reason why Toyota released the manual (which is also false), or just about anything else. After all these years from being involved by learning insider information and getting scoops I could practically write a dissertation (with help from current GR Supra owners as well) about the development of this car.

Again, haters should shut up about it not being on a "Toyota platform". You want it to be based on the RC F platform which would handle about as well as the Z (which is all-right, but can't go balls to the wall like the GR Supra's bespoke platform can), or the LC500 which weighs ~4.5k lbs? What engine would you want them to use? The V35A-FTS is not the engine that the Toyota guys had in mind and wasn't an inline-six, and I would not trade that for anything else in the world and I STILL want that for the A100 GR Supra.

Toyota (and yes, BMW, I'm not denying that BMW was extremely consequential in this development) literally have built the perfect sports car for almost all of us with their engineering ability and with the perfect ingredients from BMW (and a very small handful from Toyota) and it sells better than every other car that's not the American muscle cars, Corvette, Miata, and 911.

I scoff at how people love to trying to fear-porn into the GR Supra possibly being "killed off" because of the C8, and now the Z. Can't people enjoy things in peace? People who just want to see things fail without reason are fucking sadistic.

I could give a handful of reasons about the Z's flaws and why it's supposedly an "inferior car" and try to roast at how it's a 20 year old platform or how Nissan is currently in bed with Renault, but I wouldn't because those arguments are silly and nonsensical. Most of all, I understand there are nuances in the automotive industry and why some decisions have to be made. In Toyota's case, we KNOW that Toyota will be following-up with an even better car which they will basically be fully developing on their own, and the A90 as well as the whole move to make Toyota and Lexus a more spirited, ballsy, and competitive conglomerate was after a huge internal company war with the bean counters and the old guard, versus the enthusiasts and people who understand that there needs to be variety, excitement and variation in a lineup in order for it to be robust and successful. Toyota's messaging has been excellent and everyone goes batshit crazy about every new Toyota product, and that's because they UNDERSTAND how to work and kick ass in today's market and the car market of the future.

To close, I wish the Z the best of luck. Capitalism will do its wonders. Competition breeds the best and I'm so thrilled to see these two Japanese companies duke it out and make better cars.

I heard the Nissan Z kids are crying in their forum over stated MSRP of the performance trim Z. I remember before the release, everybody swear they would get one, and how its suppose to be a “Supra Killer” “V8 destroyer”. Now that its out, their forum turn into a meme. these supposed adult remind of these high schoolers with clapped out g35 sedans lol. (i’m sure its all fun and smiles on both sides though but weight and weight distribution alone, its not even a competition)
