I think this is the best comparison I've heard yet.

A YouTuber that doesnāt scream at me, have obnoxious music nor manipulative clickbait, and actually calls out toxicity within their own community?!?!?
The summary posted on the Z forum is so different, and the community is surprisingly silent about the video.Camissa is at it again, going into a lot of interesting details about how much Nissan tuned the Z to protect itself.
He also walked back a little of his comment about the Bridgestones.
Short notes:
He says there's gonna be a lot of these getting wrecked with the recipe Nissan put together, but to be fair, looking at the salvage Supra thread, there's plenty of people with more money than driving skill.
- Dead steering
- Stock tune has boost suddenly increasing from 4-5K RPM that breaks the tires loose
- engine cuts power as soon as you touch the brake, even with all the systems turned off
- Cuts boost and power as you approach redline until the engine drops to 6k RPM
- even with the "no lift shift," you can't do WOT shifts
- no power until you fully release the clutch to protect it
@14:10 Cammisa nails why the BMW/Toyota partnership was such a good move. Toyota gave us a 52k Supra without up charging for all the R&D $$ that went into developing the BMW components (i.e., the end result is that the Supra doesn't have to go into "limp mode" like the Z, as Cammisa describes). Plus, Toyota did their own reliability testing on the B58. Such a win for Supra owners. The summary posted on the Z forum is so different, and the community is surprisingly silent about the video.

This is easily the most neutral and down to earth comparison that I have seen.
Based on this feedback it seems the Z is still at beta phase for the first year buyers to discover and complain so Nissan will fix them.
His straight up comment that you will see a ton of Zās wadded up on Copart was alarming.

My fave thread on all this so far. Page 3 has some nice education going on for a non Supra fan.............

That dude Lvckv69 actually claimed the Supra makes less power lol, and actually claims he's raced Supras in his "tuned" 370Z.My fave thread on all this so far. Page 3 has some nice education going on for a non Supra fan.............

Never seen a 370z on a road course that is either fast or doesn't overheat. That dude Lvckv69 actually claimed the Supra makes less power lol, and actually claims he's raced Supras in his "tuned" 370Z.
As stated by the factory its a GT overall. Tracking and Z are not such a perfect combo without work. People do it but the platform in a base sense is lacking. Certainly the 370 was.Never seen a 370z on a road course that is either fast or doesn't overheat.
I really close friend has a Nismo model and he can run 2 laps and then has to run 3 cool down laps- repeat. Have also been to two events where the Z owner removes the entire bumper and facia to run laps so they do not over heat.
Had a twin turbo 370Z, and yeah one or two laps at full power would be quite warm. To the new Z's credit, love it or hate it that giant front opening should aid in cooling quite a bit.Never seen a 370z on a road course that is either fast or doesn't overheat.

Thereās definitely some crazy ātribalismā going on. Not sure what makes some people think Toyota ācouldnātā engineer a better car by themselvesā¦youād think Toyota was the company that nearly went bankrupt, not Nissan. My fave thread on all this so far. Yeah the wording there is odd, they're acting like Toyota cheated by partnering with BMW, so even though the Supra is faster it doesn't really count.Thereās definitely some crazy ātribalismā going on. There's a lot of ignorance around the economics behind car development. BMW's partnership kept costs down and kept the car affordable to the target demographic. Otherwise the Supra would've been a 6 figure sales disaster like the NSX or newer GTRs, or let's not forget the LFA (from a sales perspective).Yeah the wording there is odd, they're acting like Toyota cheated by partnering with BMW, so even though the Supra is faster it doesn't really count.
