I figured this might give all us Aussies a place to vent while we wait.. and maybe even give us a break from watching all the online Supra porn. ;)

I've got a deposit down on a Yellow MT in Victoria. Still no word on final price or spec but the stealer tells me I'm looking at delivery around March next year. Ugh.

Anyone else in waiting hell?

I spoke to a stealer today and they're guessing the 2023 MTs will be in around March/April next year. No clear information about ETAs in Australia as of yet from what I can tell. Even the Toyota Australia website still shows the 2022 model - no MT listed.

I'm looking for the new blue in ZF8 rather than 6MT, but this is what my nearest dealer (Brisbane) told me about MY23 in general. I might ask another dealer the same question:

The new model pricing is yet to be released. Toyota have notified me that pricing won’t be made available until possibly Jan 2023. You can place an order, but the pricing won’t be known until January and if you order now you are most likely going to get a 2022 built vehicle as it could be a build 2022 and arrive April or May 2023.

Well I've put a deposit down on a manual, so it's going to have to be a MY23. And unless they're already on the boat - which is possible - the MY22s are surely no longer being manufactured. Besides, the blue is a MY23 only colour anyway. 🤷‍♂️

MY23 MT spec builds started in July this year I believe, I'm thinking of specifying at 2023 plated car, but prob lucky to get by Xmas '23. a FB post said he'd heard Toyota had paused MY23 orders.

Well the only official information I have seen is that the manual cars "arrive in Australia in the final quarter of 2022," as per Press release above. My dealer in Melbourne is still giving me a March 2023 estimate but who knows really.. at least the deposits are refundable.

Hopefully we'll get some news soon.

I guess it being specified as manual will force it to be MY23, but I got another odd response from the same guy I was speaking to - after clarifying that I only want the new blue, and wanted to put my name down now:

You can order one now but there is no guarantee it won't be a 2022 build as they are building them now with the delay from production to arrival.

If you are wanting a 2023 build you will be best to wait until the wholesale date before placing an order which should be Jan 2023.

It just sounds like you got a dud salesperson. Unless the MY22's come in blue - and I'm fairly confident they don't - what they said just doesn't makes any sense!

I think this isn't unusual by the way. The first stealer I visited to inquire about Supras was clueless. He flat out told me there was no plans to sell a manual Supra in Australia (even though the weeks old Toyota press release said otherwise) and then began trying to sell me a GR Yaris.

🤷‍♂️

[EDIT] Just to clarify: MY23 build cars are built from around July 2022, so even though it's "built" in 2022, it will be stamped as a model year 2023. The actual year it was built is meaningless compared to the model year. Maybe that's the confusion?

I drove past another stealer today and dropped in to see if I could get any more information.

They confirmed that a) Nobody knows shit; b) They can take orders but there's no allocation, specs or pricing details yet; c) There is no ETA for anything, even pricing/spec information; d) July is when MY23 cars started rolling off the production line.. but these weren't for us anyway as there are no allocations!

So nothing.
