I had to do some research in getting the part numbers for the oil filter and the special Toyota oil that the Supra uses. Here's the parts you'll need if you are doing your own oil changes.

The manual states you need to use Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SN 0W-20 C5 for GR Toyota Supra

Oil filter is 04152-WAA02
SN 0W-20 C5 oil is 08880-WA011

I'm afraid to bring my Supra in for the Toyotacare, what if the Toyota dealer doesn't stock the special oil and the tech uses the regular 0w-20 for the Prius? I'm almost thinking of skipping my Toyotacare oil change......

My plan is to use the ToyotaCare plan for service documentation and then change the oil myself to something better right after. That way there’s documentation of servicing if there is ever a problem.

ToyoBMW, you’re doing the right thing. I also research the hell out of what is required and involved with all my vehicle services (Toyota TIS is great).

I tend to always buy the required engine, transmission, differential and any other oils (or fluids) required ahead of time, including all filters and just state to my dealer service manager that everything needed is in a cardboard box in the passenger floorboard for the technician to use on my cars.

No mistakes that way.

The dealers should have your oil in stock . I know we carry it. It has it's own special bottle lol I put some to the side for me. :)

Does this mean with 'Toyota Care' our first oil changes are free? Or is it still charged by them? I changed it myself at 500 miles... but would consider the dealer at 3K if it were free and documented that way. Although I'm Auto-xing the car... so immediately switched to Mobil 1 0w40 Euro formula.

Best regards,
Dave

Should be your first 2 years 25k mile service intervals. You go in every 5k
Thanks! Ok... I'll do one more on my own then... and then have them do it. But also you've helped me, as it doesn't hurt for me to ask if they'll do it earliier. ;)

Cheers,
Dave

Service intervals are every 10k on the Supra, so you get 2 under ToyotaCare. You can use them both early if you want though. So could do 1 at 5k then another at 10

they still suggest you come in every 5 k. they will check and top off fluids and rotate tires if applicable

Not on the Supra. Most other Toyota are 5k. Not saying its a bad idea. Just not how the factory Maintenance guide is written.

Yeah, I could never wait that long... just torture on an Engine IMO, but that the standard for BMW. I like to always drain the factory fill at 500 miles... just old school I guess. And then I do it at 3K and then every 3K afterwards. I do 5K on my 'daily drivers' but not my sports cars.

Best regards,
Dave

Something I am curious about is if the B58C is known to consume any or much oil between changes like some other BMW engines (especially some M engines) of past manufacture especially since BMW designed engines have no oil pan dipstick (I assume the A90 is no exception to lacking a dipstick).

This is not really something I'd be concerned about but rather something good to know one way or the other and be prepared for. I always expect any high performance sports/muscle/super car to require higher maintenance and more frequent fluid changes and top-offs than any "normal" vehicle.

For a high performance turbocharged car I agree with keeping the oil changes closer to 3k-3.5k miles. I wonder what kind of regular expected driving style for a turbo sportscar Toyota anticipates when their schedule suggests 10k change intervals. I'm not saying everyone who owns one of these will always drive it hard 100% of the time but 10k does seem a long time in between getting fresh synthetic oil into the engine and turbo even for a modern design.
