I also looked at the competition in the price bracket. However, I plan to daily this car if I buy it and none of the competition seem to be good DDs. Reliability and maintenance cost are an important consideration for me. Toyota has a history of reliability I can count on despite the BMW engine.

I like the styling of the new Supra. I like the increasingly rare i6. I like Toyota Motor Corp. For me, the competition for the Supra is not another sports car but rather a more practical SUV or hybrid.

I considered the M vehicles as well. I have no problem with BMW. I like their offerings. However, they charge way too much for labor and basic maintenance. They also have a history of really annoying, potentially catastrophic, build quality deficiencies.

    That's when BMW Corp asked,

How can we charge more on a car that isn't made for reliability?

    That's when god said,

    Let there be Vanos

So 40,000 euros equal roughly $48k USD.

    Hello there guys,

I'm not sure how many people are from the UK on this forum. But for those who are, what do you guys think the pricing will be for us in the UK? If it's anything to go by direct comparison with the low $40k mark that the US is expecting, then it should be great.. However, with the Toyota GT86 currently priced within the low 30's for the top spec GT86 club series, I don't think that this will be the case for us..

What are you guys willing to pay for a car like a Supra?

For comparison, the Porsche 718 Cayman starts at £46,000 but is in poverty spec..

    Thanks

It's not just about money though, no point in buying an Aston Martin DB9 if you need a family car (a bloomin fast one obviously) to take crap to the tip in (whether they cost the same or not) just the same as there is little point in buying an M6 if you want a 2 seater sports car for having the maximum fun driving tight and twisty A and B roads. Cross shopping 2nd hand is absolutley valid though. I've ordered a MkV because I think it's genuinely interesting, small and hopefully follows through on the fun to drive mantra. I have also looked at the new Aston Vantage, Old Aston Vantage V12S, Evora, Jag F Type, Mazda Mx5, Cayman, Boxster, and M2 Comp (just crept in as an outsider). All are great cars but the Supra appears (still lots we don't know admittedly) to deliver against what I want the most and quids in, it's a third of the price of the Aston I was looking at. Happy days for all us petrol heads if it delivers anywhere near the fun that has been promised.

In the UK, the price will need to stat with a 4. It’s not even fully reserved here so can’t see people paying over £50k. In my opinion.

IF it starts with a 4 ... it needs to be low 4's .... otherwise the Cayman will steal all its thunder.

Bearing in mind that not all have been reserved in the UK I think it will need to undercut the Cayman by a long way. Problem in the UK is that as soon as you go over 40k list your clobbered with the stupid VED surcharge for 5 years so the low 40k's don't make a lot of sense. Hope I am wrong but I suspect Toyota will go higher 40's fully loaded and try and offer better value than the Cayman. The Porsche price increases rapidly with a few extras which I would have expected as standard so I suppose Toyota could use that to show what great value the car is.

TBH and I know I am in the minority, from the teaser pics and videos so far I think I would be more likely to opt for the Cayman at a 10K premium.
Not trying to be negative about the Supra, it's just not saying buy me like the GT86 did at the moment and yes I have reserved one and paid my deposit.

Totally agree with you re the pricing and the wow factor.

Seems in the US far more demand for the car then here where it's very much an also ran already.

Think the drawn out launch process isnt helping, nor the fact that it's auto only - which is where I'm really struggling.
