at 1st i was like everyone else. no way its gonna be that much. however, after reading the Mustang comparison on the 86 forum, who knows..

I believe it might be 444hp. Nissan has been chasing Ford for bang for buck since 2003.

2003 350Z 287hp
2003 Mustang GT 260hp

2009 370Z 332hp
2009 Mustang GT 300hp

Ford always ends up 2-3 years later coming back in the lead for bang for buck. I believe the Z might be 444hp/3300lbs so the power to weight ratio makes it more favorable and don't be surprised if the Z undercuts Ford's price of $35,800 by at least $1000 for a Z base. Nissan wants the Z to be bang for buck again.

Those boomerang headlights and taillights were Nissan's signature design element at the time - like the Lexus' hourglass grill and Acura's 5-point "beak" looking front end.

It worked well in the 370Z since the lights contoured the bumpers and rear fenders. But it did get old after 11 years.

I wish I could see the 400Z in a darker color. That baby-poop yellow isn't very flattering.

Maybe all in black will be more flattering to its futuristic yet simple lines. With bronze wheels? Oh, and get rid of that cheesy chrome strip that runs from the top of the A-pillar to the base of the hatch.

Sorry, but the boomerang lights were hideous. I much preferred the look of the 350z.

The boomerang lights made the 370z age poorly imo. It was part of their signature design element, i get it but definitely did not age well.

@API...
I agree interior looks better...with that said I really don't think the quality will be better then the Supra...

When my wife was looking to replace her jaguar xfs we looked at the infinite red sport...the interior looked nice until you sat in the seats ( which where like cardboard) the interior just lacked...AND the Red Sport has 400hp and still felt SLOW...
You really think Nissan motor company will put a better interior in a 30k car than they do in a 60k car?

I'm not trying to bash Nissan ( I owned a Infiniti m35 for many years it was a great car)...I just think they could do better with at least the styling of the car...

All of this is very subjective....
I personally wouldn't spend my money for this particular car...
The seats in my 370Z were terrible also. A shame because I really liked the exterior looks of the car. The available manual trans for the 400Z will be the decision maker for a lot of people. I would be very impressed if Nissan could make a better automatic than the Supra's 8-speed ZF. It's easily among the best automatic cars I have tried.

On the other hand, if Toyota makes good on their "3JZ" Supra version - they might be in the same boat eventually, with the most powerful model not being a Lexus branded unit. Of course, I'll believe that when it happens - and if it does, I'll expect it to be more like the LFA where almost no units will be produced and the price will be so exorbitant that no dealerships will ever see one.
For the price reason you mentioned (although not LFA levels of pricey), its very likely we won't see a 3JZ Supra with a motor supplied by Toyota. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a GRMN version with the S58 motor that the M4 uses.

Yeah, no on the Z. I don't care how cheap it is, I still don't like the shape. It's like a Japanese Mustang.
