I'm in the process of picking up a 2021 3.0 premium and won't be able to tune as the ecu is locked.
I plan to get jb4 but would like some other performance mods aswell.

I know tires and running higher octane fuel is possible but what about dp, exhaust, pure 800 etc

What can I do to improve the performance of the car using only a piggyback tune? (checked n54tech already)

Thanks!

Perhaps cart before the horse? When you do take delivery, drive it first and see how you feel about the stock hp. For some Supra owners, its plenty horses. A dp and jb4 is all you need to get you in trouble real fast. The Supras already have high flow intakes and exhaust so any aftermarket intake and exhaust will provide you incremental gains until you go aftermarket turbo. Bigger turbo means you will need ecu tune. Then comes meth, flex fuel, port injection, and heat management. At this point you probably want to upgrade your tranny and axles.

You can do a catless downpipe and JB4, especially if you don't care about the CEL, I have the awe touring and I think it actually added a few horses, my bms intake sounds amazing, but I don't think added much, our cars can run a little E stock, so you can blend like e20, and then springs/ sway bars and some bracing will def add a lot to the car in terms of handling and fun factor!

Donā€™t forget tire upgrades. Anything over 450 rwhp is just spin until the ECU shuts you down then spin some more. ?

Performance is great but without traction its just bragging rights with your friends

I thought you needed to get port injections before turbo because the car needs more fuel before bigger turbo? (never modded a car to this extreme)

And I know the speed will be intense but I do daily drive a c8 with many track days and still want more speed out of it. I'm ok to wait for the ecu to be unlocked to go all out, but id do what I can before as long as the jb4 can handle it.

The factory HPFP "HPD6" from the B58TU engine is pretty good from the factory potentially delivering over 5000 PSI. From the Bimmer forums, some members with Pure Turbos, have dyno'd up to 603whp/702wtq on 93oct. I'm not a tuner specialist so others may chime in with more experience.

You can learn more here.

I think people are running catless without a tune but you get a CEL.

Personally I hate smelling the exhaust fumes in my car with catless. Personally I would go catted.

Agreed on the smell. And I just donā€™t get running catless on public roads. On a race track is one thing, but making everyone else smell that stink seems kind of unfair.

Basically everyone I talked to has said get wider rears at the minimum before any performance upgrades. You'll just be spinning your wheels otherwise.
So true. Stock PSS tires are trash. I changed out to TE37SLs and extremecontact sports in less than 1000 miles after I got the car. 305 rear tires are perfect for it. So much better for stock power levels. However, that grip went out the window once Jeff Payn did my 93 catless tune. ? Now Iā€™m waiting to get my Weld S71s and MT ET street R tires in a couple days. ??ā€ā™‚
