This is sort of thee average consumption. My low oil light came on at 4,500miles. I was pretty easy on the car.

None. You're supposed to add a quart when the level drops to min, but you might want to take it to a dealer when that happens to get the oil consumption documented.

Don't add any oil until the low oil warning comes on. When mine came on, the tech only put in 3/4 of a quart and it read full again. I'm glad he didn't put a full quart in. These electronic dipsticks don't seem to be very accurate.

I personally wouldn’t add any oil. Get it documented by the dealership or just change the oil all together.

You’re registering 1/2 a quart low, which really isn’t bad for 2000 miles and within BMW’s standards.

Only let the dealership add oil. Keep driving until you hit the min line. It looks like you need to start the documentation process for excessive oil consumption.

We need more cases like yours reported at Toyota so they can address it with BMW.

Don’t let anyone tell you this is normal on a brand-new engine. Its not acceptable and not the norm.

Drive the car more than 10 min and check it again. Drive it like 20 min and then check. I bet the level goes up. Dont think 10 min is enough time to heat the oil up.

I’ve got 2500 miles on my 21 3.0 and I just checked the oil level yesterday. It showed completely full. I would run another check, after a spirited 30 minute drive, to verify results and document if the reading comes out the same.

So after 4300 miles I hit the 1-quart low mark. Will it be okay to drive it 1 quart low till next Wednesday? I'm bringing it to the dealer to get it documented.
