The logo is laser etched into it, its not a sticker. Meaning it is burned into the surface of the aluminum eating away at the anodized layer. Painting won't really cover it up unless you go really heavy and basically fill it in... but that would be a lot of paint. Probably better to sand it down...
Going off memory as I'm away from the car but basic steps are
1. Unpair/delete your phone from the head unit
2. Make sure your phone isn't connected to anything Bluetooth
3. Plug the box into car and wait 2 mins
4. Go into communication, then add device, select Carplay
5. Wait. Eventually a...
Good to know. I'm glad there are solutions for everyone's requirements. For me the touchscreen was required, my wife's Audi has no touchscreen but knob and steering wheel input only, it's painful to use every time. I wasn't going to accept a solution without it.
Sure thing. With the other display modes the input lag was about 1.5 to 2 seconds. With it on mode 3 its down to around 1 sec.
This is what you think is better? Do you have this installed? Where's the video showing the input lag of Android Auto with this solution? I haven't found one. Or...
You do understand you sound like an idiot right? The MMI solutions do not have the same functionality and cost twice as much. You are saying you would rather have 500 milliseconds less lag but have to use the stupid dial to interact...... Your argument is completely illogical.
But you will be...
No it doesn't. When I was testing with my daughter's iPhone it also didn't have directions in the HUD. But I also didn't test a whole lot with directions. Some quick googling shows it only shows HUD directions from the built in Nav, not from Carplay. So I believe the experience here is the same...
If the options are a MMI unit without any integration (hud, steering controls, touch screen) for $500 that I need to rip open the dash and control with the click wheel, or no Android Auto at all, or switch to an iPhone.... Yeah I'll take this more lag game changing option. You do know what game...
Will need someone with an iPhone to confirm, but when I was testing I didn't see any route info on the hud. But this isn't available from AA on the hub
Not that easy oh smarty pants, it keeps coming out. Mine is doing it too
Since the lip is glued down with some incredibly strong adhesive, there's no way its coming off without damaging everything. It doesn't really push back in (just slides back out). I decided to cut mine.
I slid a thin...
Same price: $219
I got model 08. Not sure what the pro version might add. Just make sure it is specifically for BMW is for wireless carplay (wired won't work) and compatible with iDrive 6 if you want to give another version a try.
For those when they get it, some extra setup instructions as...
I used a strip of velcro for now. figured if I needed to pull it out to troubleshoot something the velcro would be necessary. But so far I haven't touched it since it was put in a couple days ago
Added Android Auto with full OEM integration (touch screen, HUD)
