The wind buffeting really isn't that bad with windows down. People overexaggerate the issue. The 10$ fix from amazon was enough for me personally.

Yeah, multigrips and a screwdriver head is the way. A lot of small nips but got there after an hour or so. The spacers are kind of small but they are tight enough and the guards sit flush.
