Can’t hurt to change it and glad you found the menu to reset it! Besides, it’s always good to top it off if/when it gets low. And as long as it’s not silicone based (DOT 5), you can mix and match fluids. The majority being DOT 3 found everywhere and perfect for street use.
I have been in that menu before. Had to correctly set my maintenance interval since the dealer didn't know how to. I also used it to check out things like oil temps and such. Pretty cool.
I'm going to get the brake fluid change done and if the dealer doesn't reset it correctly, I'll fix it...
you can reset it yourself. search for thread on getting in to menu

My 2020 has about 13,500 miles. I change the oil myself every 5000 miles and reset the maintenance reminder so I have about 3500 miles on the oil. Up until last week each time I started the engine it said Service due in 6000 miles, not that I pay attention to that. Now all of a sudden it says...
Unfortunately no, I haven’t done the battery replacement. But I have used it to reset my oil service and it was very easy. Can’t imagine it would be any different for the battery. That app will be some of the best money you can spend for this car.
In order to reset it at that mileage you will need to use an OBD adapter and BimmerLink. The onboard computer will not allow you to reset it unless a certain percentage of either the mileage or length of time has been reached.
I’m at Toyota right now getting an oil change. Well they said they cannot reset my oil light unless I do the recall. And can’t do the recall because I removed my factory amp.
Any suggestions.
Can you remove the light w bimmer link even if the recall isn’t done
Ok. Appreciate it. No I wouldn’t do it myself. I have a real good guy for that stuff.
But overall your happy w it.
After an oil change, how do you reset the alarm thing
Only thing to remember is there are *two* service menus in the dash depending on whether the car is "on" or not when you hold down the button... and you can't reset the oil on the wrong menu... just changed my rex oil last weekend and this caught me up again lol
I left my OBD MX+ in the port on accident when i TOLD them to do the brake recall. they even called me if i was sure i wanted the recall done because it would erase tunes, settings, etc. I said YES do the recall (i was still well within warranty with only bimmercode coding in so i didnt care) so...
Funny you should mention the oil consumption. Friend of mine has a 2021 model and he had that exact issue. The thing was consuming about a quart every 300 miles.
Needless to say he was upset his brand new car had this issue.
After talking with Zach at CSG for a bit he suggested giving a higher...
I second the BimmerLink comment. I was able to reset my “impossible” oil service after only 1100 miles. Also able to monitor my battery’s percentage for my CTEK and install my AWE exhaust without having to start the car in order to open the exhaust valve. Although I am uncertain about the brake...
