Yea, I think I am finally going to install the roll bar this winter. We'll see if that becomes true. Between the oilpump, trans build and the roll bar, it might be a bit busy.
Anecdotal experience, but I had my oilpump fail and swapped out. Previous owners of my car were in California, Arizona, and then with me - having to swap it out in Vegas. It does get cold in the winters for Arizona & Nevada. I'm not exactly sure when it failed specifically. I can only guess it...
I might have jumped the gun, but I am currently on the reinstall steps, i've installed the pistons and rods and will get to the oilpump and oil pan next.
I've been taking it very slow and ensuring I research everything before I go into the next step. I've put well over 25 hours of work into it...

What’re you doing for motor mounts? I did the power flex inserts while the oilpump was done- really happy overall but I should have trimmed the top portion as it does vibrate a little at idle. Tuner raised it, but in gear the rpm’s drop back down.

You do not need any software updates to swap out the oilpump. I had mine done earlier this year. I have an unlocked DME on my 2020 from factory. I haven't even done any of the recalls. They just swap the pump and you're done. Nothing needs to be done with the software, won't effect your unlock...

5500 is definitely highway robbery. Most users like myself that went independent paid between 2K and 3K at worst. Find a good BMW / "European Car" repair shop, most of them know the Supra is basically a Z4 and will work on them.
