How modern keyless entry systems work: you put your hand on the door handle (or slightly pull the door handle, in some cars), the car senses the presence of the keyfob nearby, then automatically unlocks the car, and you can then pull the door handle all the way and open the door.
In many cars...
I always thought that instead of trying to break the encryption math, it would be easier to get an electron microscope and look inside the chip to see if you can figure out the encryption key set in the chip.
But then again I don't really know much about the hardware side of things and have no...
Got it, thanks.
I'd love to see you make further progress on this as I'm very interested in the version with the sensor that can automatically unlock the car and open the trunk with the button. Understandably that version will probably be a lot more expensive but I think it's worth it for the...
Sure, that's fair. All I really want to know is how your solution behaves. Do you know, if somebody presses the button while the car is locked, what happens? Does the trunk open?
Can you address the concerns raised in the video, though?
The way they explained in the video, due to a lack of key fob sensors in the trunk area, there's no way to rig a button such that the button press automatically unlocks the car first, but only if there's a key fob in proximity.
Due to...
Also, the S58 has this design where the intakes feed an air filter on top of the engine. I think that probably makes the engine too tall to fit into the Supra? So they'd have to come up with a S58 variant that has the air intake and filters on the side. Not that hard to do but will BMW make it...
This is what I'm looking for, except I'm not a big fan of the old-fashioned calculator style display. I like the display in those LED steering wheels much better, they have the newer pixel-style display. But not a fan of having buttons on the steering wheel like that. Does anybody know if...
I think Nissan's biggest mistake was pricing the Z Performance at $50k. When they first came out with the trims, I figured the Z Performance would be $45k. That was the car I was going to get, because it would've been $11k less than the Supra 3.0 Premium which would've been the trim I'd want. It...
I wouldn't put down $10k without a contract that spells out what car I'm getting and when, plus remedies for what happens if they don't deliver the car in the timeframe.
Configurator has been live for a week or so now so I guess the options are final. So it seems 3.0 MT can ONLY be ordered with Safety and Technology package, and 3.0 Premium MT can ONLY be ordered with Driver Assist package. No way to remove these packages like you can with the AT versions. Does...
I'm pretty sure the automatic one is a rendering error. Take a look at the 2022 version of this picture. It looks like they took this image, and tried to edit it to look like the 2023 manual image, but edited it in a way that makes no sense. There are black shaded parts that shouldn't be there...
The US Supra main page has finally been updated to the 2023 model https://www.toyota.com/grsupra/
So I guess that makes the configurator officially released. Yet it's still not possible to configure the manual without the driver assist package. Weird.
So many things in the configurator are broken right now. Can't add driver assist package to Premium AT. Can't remove driver assist package from Premium MT. Sadly have to be patient and wait a while before relying on the configurator for confirmation of options.
You can also see it on the Toyota Canada website: https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/vehicles/supra/overview#
Converting L/100KM to MPG, you have:
2022: 22/29 MPG
2023 3.0 AT: 23/31 MPG
2023 MT: 19/27 MPG
I always thought this was a very plausible explanation. The reasons are two-fold:
First, it seems like the buffeting fix does impact the movement of air around the car. After all, it affects air enough to change the turbulence of air inside the cabin with the windows down. So it makes sense...
