I don't get it. They put a lower spec engine in a sports car. What will they put the upper spec in? A luxobarge? Is the integrated manifold that big a bottleneck?
Judging by the hp difference in the supra and Z4 I don't think Toyota had much of a hand in development of this engine. I don't think Toyota would have chosen to have 335hp over 382. Having more hp than the z4 is something else but not even having the same hp yet them being essentially twins...
Agreed completely. That's what I was trying to say as well which is why I don't think they will have another engine in the car. They have invested alot of time on this one.
If Toyota is good at one thing, it's being very lazy in updating powertrains in their cars. I personally don't feel they will be in a rush to change this engine. They won't go through all that testing etc for a new engine that fast. My feeling tells me they will stick to this engine and possibly...

You know what, the way things have been going, I don't think Toyota will get the S58 engine at all. I think they will have to work with the B58 and extract more power out of it for the GRMN. That's probably where the parts sharing between the GR and the GRMN comes from. I feel like they...
I don't think it's the current M4 engine. I think it will be the S58 that will be based on the B58. Maybe some parts will be interchangeable between the 2?
That's about what I read too. So I'm not sure where this BS rebadged Z4 crap comes from. I think Toyota is well aware of the weight that name Supra holds. They wouldn't just piss it all away. There's people who've driven it that say it drives very much like a Japanese car rather than a BMW yet...
Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I'm aware, without Toyota there wasn't going to be any Z4 in the first place. BMW had planned to discontinue it. I think if this car was just a redesigned BMW, it wouldn't have taken this long. Also I firmly believe that bmw has taken away quite a bit from...
Hi @A70TTR any rough idea as to what will be different in the GR Supra? It's unlike Toyota to use different engines so am I right in assuming the core engine will be the same and differences will be more external?
